Hallelujah He is Risen!

Resurrection Sunday 🙌✝️👑

Matthew 28:5-10

"But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”

And then there was...

Silent Saturday 🔇🪦✝️

Saturday was quiet. Jesus' body was resting in the tomb. While the world felt lost, God's prophecy was still in motion. This day captures the heavy atmosphere of despair and uncertainty while also pointing to the hope for the resurrection to come.

Matthew 27:59-60 ESV
"And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut in the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the entrance of the tomb and went away."

And then on Friday it was good...

Good Friday 🙌✝️

After the arrest of Jesus, he was sent to trial. To appease the crowd, Pilate sentenced Jesus to death, making note to the crowd that he was washing his hand of this and that they were condemning an innocent man. The crowd had the choice between Jesus and Barrabas and still chose to send Jesus to be crucified.

They scourged His body with a whip containing pieces of bone and metal. They punched and spit on him. They took off his clothes. They made a crown of thorns to mock him and put it on his head, pushing the thorns into his head to make him bleed. They put a reed in his hands. Jesus was mocked by the soldiers saying, "All hail, the King of the Jews." They hit Him in his head with the reed. Jesus carried the cross to Golgotha. They nailed him to the cross to be crucified.

He hung on the cross, not for His own sins but for the sins of every single one of us. He chose our life over His. His sacrifice so that we could be forgiven of all the wrong that we've ever done. His blood was left on that cross for all of us that day.

While on the cross, Jesus still showed love to those who persecuted him.

Luke 23:34
"Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."

Matthew 27:46
"And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

Matthew 27:50-54
"And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit. And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many. When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!”

And then there was....

Maundy Thursday
(The Last Supper)🍷🥖

Jesus washed His disciples' feet, showing his His humility and act of love. He spoke peace to their hearts and offered promises of what was to come. Jesus was well aware of the suffering that was awaiting him the very next day. He still chose love.

"And when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, take, eat: this is my body which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me."

And then there was Wednesday...

Spy Wednesday 🔎

Judas led the Roman authorities to the Garden of Gethsemane and identified Jesus with a kiss. This is how he betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver.

Jesus knew that Judas would betray him, but He still washed his feet. He shared a meal with him and called him "friend" knowing the betrayal was coming. This is the love of Jesus.

How great is it that we have this kind of love?

Cleansing of the Temple

Jesus cleansed the temple because
He loved and obeyed His Father.

He chose obedience. Obedience is not just about doing what's right-it's about trusting
God enough to follow Him, even when
we are lacking faith. It is in that kind of obedience that we find the Savior and become more like Him.

Faith must be genuine and fruitful, standing against hypocrisy and corruption. This is why Jesus cleansed the temple from money changers and merchants. The fig tree was cursed because it did not bear fruit. Our bodies are our temple. Is your body lacking is good fruit? Are you obedient to God, or do you need to clean your temple just as Jesus did?

Dear God, Thank You for showing us the importance of Holy Week and honoring your son Jesus. As we recognize that our bodies are a temple that you have intricately designed, help us to be diligent in examining our hearts and removing anything that doesn't honor You. Give us the strength and wisdom to keep our spiritual lives clean and focused on You. We give you all the honor and glory. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

First, there was Sunday....

Matthew 21:5-11

“Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your king is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey, on a c**t, the foal of a beast of burden.’”

The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them.

They brought the donkey and the c**t and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them.

Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?”

And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.”
