Thinking of and Thankful for all veterans and their families today.

One of the first things I noticed about Dahlonega (after how beautiful this town is and the awesome beard sported by the man who was to become my husband of course) was the crosses that line the roads leading into and around town. Each one a memorial to one who served over the past 100 years.
With only tangent military experience, I have only a small glimpse into what our veterans ans their families sacrifice for their service, but that enough to know it is great. Thank you all.

These Gourd Hand Towels are MADEanew exclusive designs produced by in Atlanta, GA. Each hand towel is made from dead stock material or short ends that may have otherwise ended up discarded as scrap.
Hand stitched appliqué, corner loop for hanging & finished with a raw eyelash edge.

Skipping this week to tend to this new sweet boy. I admit I am bit overwhelmed at times with the learning curve of this wild new role, but during nap time my mind wanders to the bustle of market. Hoping you all have a wildly successful show!

A little outing this weekend to see the tree house progress...hopefully Baby will make his/her grand appearance before the treehouse is finished, but they seem to be dualing labors of love! It's been such an honor to be able to work with my uber talented husband and on their latest AirBNB treehouse project!

There is an old saying "the devil is in the details" I would turn that on its head and claim Our Maker provides us with the most intriguing details AND graciously gives us talents and interests to utilize them. Nathan certianly is blessed in his skill and trade!

-The flooring is live edge slabs cut from trees fell on site.
-The exterior finish is traditional Shou Sugi Ban style of burning the wood to give it the beautiful finish.
-The roof, will soon be alive with moss!

The earrings highlighted yesterday are made by the ladies pictured here. They are strong women, mothers, survivors and leaders.
Recently this vocational training program in Bolivia has begun expanding, with the goal to employ more women coming out of trafficking situations. With expansion, comes training new people and who better to train new people than the women who have been doing the work for the past few years, thus opening up new roles in leadership for the women in the program.
Join me in cheering on the ladies of as they grow, multiply and encourage others (including myself) to do the same!

Garden season is in full swing, and that means more muddy and dusty boots making their way indoors. These 2'x3x area rugs would provide the perfect place to park them in the meantime.
Each rug is one of a kind, hand made from scrap, irregular and deadstock material that otherwise could have ended up in a landfill. Hand loomed by - a job skills training program in Atlanta, GA that supports individuals struggling with low-income and homelessness.

Do you ever need a little nudge to make some lemonade? I admit social media is not my favorite task, I struggle with what and when to post; if the content is good enough, if the grid is compelling and which hash tags am I suppose use?

For the past few days, weeks really, I've slid into a social media slump, rarely posting. For a private person, a break can be restorative, for a retailer using social media as a marketing tool, it can be dangerous to be too quiet. For a retailer committed to raising awareness about producer groups around the world making a positive social and/or environmental impact, it is down right missing the point.

I want to thank Barbara Autry for sharing some of her enthusiasm and passion this afternoon, and letting me piggy back on her initiative to have the gumption to ask for a visit to the https://madeanew.com/boutique website.

Today is opening day of , and the first (that it has been open) and I have not attended since 2013. That year I sat 9.5 hours ahead in a dingy room on the coast of India with a very different task at hand. Regardless of the setting and distance, the decade of furniture markets before would not quite in my mind, and I knew one day I would, I must return to it in some capacity.
This year, I sit with my feet up, staring at this amazing view, awaiting a new family member who is set to make a grand appearance any day now. Yet, the furniture market still runs thick in my veins, and I cannot help thinking of the bustling streets, aisles and showrooms that are surely filling up as I type.
Here's hoping you all have a full and successful market week! See you in the Fall!
