“Still, I rise.” Maya Angelou was an author, actress, screenwriter, dancer, poet, and a civil rights activists that reset the culture. Her famous book, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” was the first nonfiction best selling book by an African American woman. She published 7 autobiographies, 3 books of essays, several books of poetry, and is credited with a list of plays, movies, & television shows. She paved the way for many women of color in literature.
