Sixteen years. Two faces shaped by time, one bond unchanged. The photo that captured hearts everywhere.

Sixteen years ago, it was just a simple car selfie. A young man with dark hair and sunglasses, and tucked right beside him, his tiny Chihuahua—small, bright-eyed, and full of fearless love. Those little eyes held so much trust, the kind only a Chihuahua gives so deeply, so naturally.

Back then, it was just a moment. Nothing more.

But Chihuahuas aren’t just small dogs—they’re loyal shadows, big-hearted companions in the tiniest bodies, souls that attach to you in a way that never fades.

Now, years later, the photo is taken again.

The man’s hair has turned silver, a quiet sign of time passing. And beside him, his Chihuahua—older now, a little slower, a little softer—but still right there on his shoulder, just like before. Still choosing him. Still loving him the same way.

Different years. Same seat. Same bond.

People often ask, “Do dogs really understand how much we love them?”

But anyone who’s ever loved a Chihuahua already knows.

They don’t just understand it.

They become it. Every single day. Right by your side.

Here’s my “starter photo” honoring Carroll Charles Faske, my husband, in my memorial quilt. I’m adding another border all around the beginning panel, plus one more patchy-style border. I’m shocked this photo connected!!! Miracles do happen!

It was very soon after Butch passed that I located this center panel that expressed my emotions perfectly. The sunset, in all its glory, was beautifully painted. Locating the wide border fabrics was a challenge.

I’m hoping to resume progress on this soon. I’m hoping Charles Faske would be pleased with my beginning efforts.

Folks, let me know what you think of this Memorial Quilt in its beginning stages, and thanks for stopping by!!

I want to post photos of my latest customer order—a family reunion T-shirt quilt. It’s not any simple quilt. I included my original free-motion quilted wide border, with 16 shirt panels.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with this technique, there are no traced stencil designs. I control the fabric as it is quilted, all over the area. It took me 10+ to master this technique. I was determined to learn this! I used all of my ugly fabrics as the under layer—why waste perfectly good. Fabric in testing?

Thanks for looking!

Apparently FB didn’t read my complaints. No surprise there!
