Opinion: If I Were the Chairperson of Greater Mundri Community Organization.
If I were the Chairperson of the Greater Mundri Community Organization, hereโs what I would do to help our community grow and thrive.
First, I would change the name back to the Greater Mundri Community Association. This name better reflects who we are as a united community not as organization.
Next, I would focus on education. Each year, I would work to get sponsorships for three smart students to study abroad. I would also ensure that six university studentsโtwo from each countyโget financial support for their tuition, especially those from low-income families. Education is key to our future, and we must invest in it.
I would also work with our community to set aside land for building community engagement centers. These centers would host all our community events and could be rented out to other organizations for public meetings and workshops, helping to generate income for us.
Additionally, I would partner with local churches to create trauma healing and reconciliation centers. These centers would help families, neighbors, and communities resolve conflicts and heal from trauma.
Access to information is crucial, so I would work with county commissioners and members of parliament to convince network companies to install communication networks in remote areas. I would also find ways to improve our local radio stations so that everyone in Greater Mundri can stay informed.
I would also create grassroots resource mobilization strategies. We would collect contributions from households, key individuals, and organizations to fund infrastructure development, improve healthcare, provide clean drinking water, and support students going to university.
In healthcare, I would push for the building of community hospitals or dispensaries within existing hospitals. These facilities would ensure that our communities have access to necessary medications, even during government shortages, helping to reduce the suffering that many have experienced.
Cultural preservation is important too. I would organize annual cultural events to celebrate our traditions, norms, and traditional foods. Our "Cultural and Traditional Food's Day" would be a time for us to come together and share our heritage.
Finally, I would establish an annual Education Day to emphasize the importance of education. We would also hold public lectures on health and education every six months to inspire and inform our community.
These actions would show my dedication to the development and well-being of the Greater Mundri community.
