Expect some changes coming soon. My wife and I are planning to start the Great Loop next year. It's a 6,000 mile boat trip around the Eastern US, Bahamas, and Canada. We should be gone for as long as it takes. We may get delayed along the route depending on how interesting the stops are. We are refitting our 1928 Elco motor yacht for the trip. There will be new management starting soon and we will announce that as soon as it becomes official.

You can follow our travels on our boat page MY Queen of Scots (CruisingElco) or on Instagram elco_captain.

I have been taking a break from the shop to restore a 1976 Marine Trader 40' trawler. Currently I am in Alabama on the Tennessee river bringing the boat home from St Marys, GA. I have completed 1800 of the 2000 mile trip. This has been a great trip filled with beautiful sights and adventure. Even had a hurricane to add to the fun.

I have a page for my boat if you are interested.

Made my son a Montgomery Depot artillery jacket using the information from Adolphus research. I modified a RD body and 1 piece sleeves from another pattern. Took out the seam in the back of the collar to fashion a 1 piece collar and made the square ends.

It's Tart Jean and the underside of the fabric had quite a bit of brown in it. I didn't look at the front side of the fabric and it had more black yarn in it than I wanted. Hoping the sun will fade it to more closely match the originals. I did top stitching in a dark gray that I know fades to a brownish red color more in line with photos of original thread.

I am not happy with the pocket placement. I wish I had set it a bit lower. I may move it lower after Tallassee. I have over an inch of leeway down.

The one piece sleeve pattern I used was from a sack coat pattern and they fit very nicely in the arms eye. There are excellent pictures on the Adolphus website.

I put cheap artillery buttons on it temporarily until I can get my lathe cleared out to make some proper wood buttons.

After a year of pattern making and searching for the right braid and buttons, I have finally finished this reproduction. More than 100 hours of work. The collar alone took more than a day to assemble and shape. I'm proud to ship this to the customer.

I have been working for months to recreate this jacket for a customer.
