Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting in Decatur, Alabama

Decatur, Alabama — At the request of the agencies involved, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division responded to Decatur on Monday to lead the investigation into an officer-involved shooting.

The incident occurred while personnel from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, and Decatur Police Department were conducting an operation involving a wanted individual identified as Nicholas Scott Terry, 37, of Leighton, Alabama.

During the operation, officers observed Terry exit Lowe’s and enter a vehicle. A marked patrol vehicle, a uniformed officer, and additional officers displaying police identifiers, including visible badges and police patch panels, approached Terry. Officers identified themselves as law enforcement and issued verbal commands.

During the encounter, Terry produced a firearm from his waistband and discharged the weapon at officers. Three officers returned fire, striking Terry multiple times. Two officers sustained minor injuries during the incident.

Terry was transported to a local hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment for his injuries and is listed in stable condition.

At the time of the incident, Terry was wanted on multiple felony warrants.
Investigators with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division are actively reviewing video footage, processing evidence, and conducting witness interviews as part of the ongoing investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that may assist investigators is encouraged to contact the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office at (256) 232-0111.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Second scariest moment of my life!
We went to Lowe's, me my daughter and Daven ran inside grabbed what we needed, Jada and River stayed in the car. We paid and started out the door and I heard GUN SHOTS! 10 TO BE EXACT. But remember Jada was in the car! I take off running in the line of fire to go get her and my dog grabbed them both and covered them while running them inside the store.
I'm pretty shaken up. But God please let that officer be ok!
And as for the shooter, you will get what you deserve.

Who ever set these all over the store......thank you! Every single one fills my heart with gratitude, reminding me of Je...

Quick Reality Check
As a small business, we do everything we can to keep our doors open. But recently, we had to close briefly because of a sudden illness. (Upper and lower respiratory infection) let's not forget to mention both my mom and sister died of asthma) So.
To the lady who called us "unprofessional" for being sick:
What makes this even worse is knowing you are a traveling nurse. Of all people, a healthcare professional should have some basic empathy for human sickness and understand that you can’t just "work through" being ill. Coming in sick would have been truly unprofessional—and unsafe for our community.
How we run our shop and protect our health is our business, not yours. If you can’t find the grace or common sense to understand that, you are more than welcome to take your business elsewhere, unfollow me, and never comment anything insensitive on my page again. (Unless you want to speak in person?)
To the rest of our wonderful vendors and customers who sent us nothing but love and well-wishes—thank you. We appreciate you more than you know.
And to the lady who complained: I hope you have the day you deserve.
