I could not be more proud of this team-Annette, Patty, Jessica, Jane (and unable to attend: Sadia, Niki, Ava & Sam) for being honored with the Customer Service Award at last week’s Annual Chamber Business Awards Event.

I have always said I get to work with the best people-meaning our team AND you!

We grew up being told what to wear. Skirt: too short. Pants: too tight. Shirt: too revealing.

Don’t walk alone. Park under a light post. Don’t send the wrong signal.

And it still happened to too many of us.

Nearly half of women in the U.S. have experienced some form of sexual violence. One in 5 has experienced r**e or attempted r**e. That’s not a statistic, that’s your friend, your sister or the woman in the fitting room next to you.

Every spring, Luther College hosts the “What were you wearing” exhibit. It displays outfits like the ones survivors were wearing when they were assaulted. Sweatpants. Work clothes. A child’s top. Pajamas. Ordinary things.

If you’ve never seen it, go. Take a friend. Bring your sons and daughters.

It is never about the clothes. It was never about us.
