WHY DO WE PASS ON SOME ITEMS? 🤔
A peek behind the scenes at how we decide what makes it onto our sales floor.
Hint: It's not personal. ❤️
We're never judging you. Promise.
My own kids stain things.
They wear holes in things.
They somehow get mystery marks on clothes that were clean five minutes ago. 🤷
There are actually a LOT of reasons we may pass on an item:
👕 Condition
❌ Stains
❌ Tears or holes
❌ Heavy pilling
❌ Loose threads
❌ Excessive wear
❌ Heavy wrinkles
💡 Our lighting is REALLY bright, so we often notice things that are easy to miss at home.
🛍️ Sometimes it's about what's selling.
Even items in great condition—or even brand new with tags—can be passed on if they're simply not in demand right now. Trends change, and we have to make room for what our shoppers are actively looking for.
📦 Sometimes… we're just FULL.
Some weeks everyone in Texoma seems to clean out the exact same closet. One week it might be girls size 6, another week it might be plushies or newborn clothing.
⏰ Time matters too.
Every item has to be:
✔ Inspected
✔ Tagged
✔ Priced
✔ Hung and organized
✔ Put on the sales floor
Sometimes an item simply isn't worth the labor it takes to process. A single basic onesie can cost more in time than we can realistically make back.
Speaking of time…
Please button, zip, and snap clothing before bringing it in! ❤️
Every minute we spend re-buttoning and re-snapping clothing is time we can't spend processing more items—which means we may end up accepting fewer items overall.
🧸 Toys have their own rules.
We need to be able to:
✔ Test them
✔ Verify all the pieces are there
✔ Make sure they're clean and safe
And just like clothing, some toys sell quickly and some don't.
👟 Shoes need to have life left in them.
We're looking for:
✔ Clean condition
✔ Good tread
✔ Lots of wear left
✔ Cushioned heels that aren't completely flattened
We know they're shoes and they're going to get dirty, but shoppers don't want to buy pre-mudded shoes. 🤷
📍And sometimes, even good items get passed on simply because we don't have unlimited space.
Too many plushies.
Too many bassinets.
Too many baby swings.
Too many of one size.
Every item we accept is based on:
✨ Condition
✨ Demand
✨ Safety
✨ Space
✨ Time
Our goal is to keep bringing you the items families in Texoma are shopping for while making the best use of our tiny but mighty team. ❤️
