Trouble with communication can make it extremely difficult to find that connection with your kiddo when trying to initiate play. Katie-BCBA|ESDM|Autism Mom taught me that it only takes 15 minutes to try and grab this connection to make it so worth while. My son always says words he knows to then have me repeat them. I took this action that he starts and responded with doing another hobby he’s grown to love. This lead us to going back and forth for a little over 15 minutes and he LOVED it. Getting into their world can be incredibly difficult, but putting less pressure on how and for how long, simplifying our approach, and not giving up can go such a long way❤️. My thoughts on being denied/approved for the DAS pass at .

Without this pass, my som would not have been able to enjoy what everyone goes there for! The rides and experiences. Because of this pass, we were able to find out that he LOVES thrill rides. That he actually gets almost bored on rides like “It’s a small world.” This is huge news for a family like ours.

Autism families experience everything through a different lens. Including the happiest place on earth. But because of passes like DAS, we get to have a vacation with a little more normality to it.

I say all of this, not to stir up arguments, but to provide a different perspective for those who aren’t in our shoes.

We all deserve to enjoy the same things in this world, no matter how we are given those opportunities.
