There are big personalities… and then there was Dolly 💕
Yes, the hair was big. The heels were high. The rhinestones were plentiful. And as women who have made a career out of bras, we’d be lying if we said we never wondered exactly what size Miss Dolly was working with 😉
But the biggest thing about Dolly Parton was always her heart.
She showed us that you could be unapologetically feminine and incredibly powerful. That you could love lipstick, sequins, and a little cleavage, and still be one of the smartest people in the room. She championed children and literacy, gave generously when her community needed her, supported women, celebrated individuality, and somehow always seemed to leave the world a little brighter than she found it.
She was a girls’ girl before we ever had a name for it.
Dolly never made herself smaller to make anyone else more comfortable. She was funny, fabulous, wildly talented, endlessly generous and completely, unmistakably herself.
And that might be our favorite thing about her.
Here’s to a life lived in full color, full sparkle and, we can only assume, one hell of a well-fitting bra 💗
Thank you for showing generations of women that there is power in being exactly who you are!
We’ll miss you, Dolly ✨
P.S. We (Cindy & Jeanie) loved listening to Dolly Parton’s America, an NPR podcast, with our daughters, and we highly recommend it to anyone with even the slightest soft spot for Dolly 💕
