This DIY sequin flip panel came together quick. I used an old frame we had lying around, cardboard works just as well.

Search "sequin flip fabric" and you'll find plenty of options. This kind came precut, so it was just tape and done.

My daughter had a rehab appointment this week. Botox in her muscles for her spasticity.

The doctor working with her rehab doc saw the diapers in her wheelchair backpack and said she'd heard of us.

She had no idea I made them. She just knew the name.

We started this because nothing fit my daughter. First time somebody's recognized it in real life. That was pretty cool.

Some weeks I text back within the hour. Some weeks I don't see my phone until 9pm and I'm too tired to even feel bad about it. Being a working mom to a disabled kid means my capacity moves around a lot, and I've stopped apologizing for the weeks it runs out.

If you've got a friend who never makes you feel guilty for going quiet, this one's for them.

My daughter just started first grade. About a third of her class this year was in her class last year, so a lot of these kids have known her since kindergarten.

A boy from another class saw her in the hallway this week and got curious about the wheelchair. Her friend just answered him. Took like four seconds, she started with my daughter's name, and then they all went to drama class.

When was the last time another kid introduced your child to somebody?

Representation isn't about checking a box. It's about a child seeing someone who looks like them, moves like them, communicates like them, or experiences the world like they do and realizing: "I belong here too."

We made the icons we wish existed.

A visual schedule, 112 cards, black and white so it reads for low vision kids too.
The medical and care section is why this exists, therapy, meds, feeding pump, nebulizer, suction, stander, all the stuff usually missing. This is a schedule. Not a communication system. AAC users, keep using your own symbols.
