Boring detail we're weirdly proud of: it charges with the same USB-C cable as your phone.

No proprietary plug to lose, no drawer full of dead AAAs, no hunting for batteries at 11 p.m. Plug it in on the bench, grab it on your way out.

Small thing. Removes a whole category of annoyance.

Setting up camp after dark is a rite of passage nobody asks for.

Poles in one hand, fly in the other, wind picking up, and a light that has to stay exactly where your eyes go. That's the whole job — see the thing you're doing, keep both hands on it.

Where's the last place you pitched a tent in the dark?

4:50 a.m. The good bite happens before the sun shows up, and so does everything annoying about fishing.

Tying a lure with cold fingers, digging through the tackle box, unhooking in the dark — all of it needs both hands and light that actually points where you're looking, not at your own knuckles.

The power goes out and suddenly your whole house is a stranger.

You're feeling your way down the hallway to a breaker panel you've looked at maybe twice in your life, phone in one hand, squinting at labels someone wrote in 1998. Meanwhile you need that hand to actually flip the breakers.

Storm season is a good excuse to keep something better than a phone by the door.

The cabinet under the sink is where DIY projects go to die.

You're on your back, head in a box, one hand on the wrench and the other on a pipe that's about to drip on your face. There is nowhere to put a flashlight. There has never been anywhere to put a flashlight.

If you've ever done this with your phone balanced on a bottle of dish soap, you already know why we built what we built.

—Nobody warns you that half of trucking happens standing still, in the dark, on a lot somewhere off I-80.

Straps, chains, tire checks, the paperwork you drop under the trailer — all of it two-handed, none of it during daylight. A light that stays pointed where you're looking, that you never have to set down or pick back up, is one of those small things that stops being small around 2 a.m.

Respect to everyone doing the night miles.

Barn chores start before the sun does.

Stalls, feed, brushing — half the year all of it happens in the dark, and all of it needs two hands. A wide band of light across the stall beats holding a flashlight in your teeth while a 1,200 lb animal decides what it thinks of you.

Every horse person we talk to says the same thing: it's never the riding that's hard, it's everything around it.

The trail doesn't end at sunset.

A wide band of light instead of a narrow spot means you see the whole path — roots, rocks, the next turn — without sweeping your head around like an owl. Light where your eyes go, hands free for the climb.

Working nights shouldn't mean fighting your own flashlight — propping it on a ledge, watching it roll off, starting over. The band lights up the whole panel, and with the sensor your gloves never have to touch a button.
