I've been sewing since I was 9 years old when mama was making my soon-to-be sister in laws wedding gown. I wanted her to make my Barbie doll a wedding gown. So she dug through her patterns, handed me a Barbie pattern and the scraps from the gown she was making, and said "do what I do". I watched and learned. From then on I made my own doll clothes, and have been sewing for myself, my family and friends since then. I am somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to my sewing. If something isn't quite right, it gets taken apart and done over. I make baby clothes, baby blankets and baby quilts, nursery items, diaper bags, purses, some home decor including curtains and miscellaneous kitchen items, doll clothes, dog clothes, just about anything you could think of. I do NOT make pageant dresses, or take them in, or hem them. I will take in some store bought clothes and hem pants, skirts, etc. I do not make full size quilts for beds due to the time it takes to make them. I have been known to make lap quilts for the elderly. I have not but do plan to make some busy blankets for the elderly, they are said to help them. And we all know I have soft spot for the elderly.
