Our new design is live! The St. Benedict Medal Baby Onsie is SO super cute with the reverse side detail! Check it out! 😍

The St. Benedict Medal is related to the life of St. Benedict of Nursia and is believed to protect those who wear it from curses, evil and disease (as well as protect good health) as St. Benedict had abandoned his education in nursing for the God life in solitude.

The front of the medal, shown on our St. Benedict Medal Baby Onsie, contains a cross with the letters C S S M L - N D S M D and are the initials for the words "Crux sacra sit mihi lux! Nunquam draco sit mihi dux!" which translates to "May the Holy Cross be my light! May the dragon never be my overlord!" At the top of the cross is the word "PAX" which means Peace.

On the outer circle are the letters V R S N S M V - S M Q L I V B for the words "Vade retro satana: Vade retro Santana! Numquam suade mihi vana! Sunt mala quae libas. Ipse venena bibas!" This translates to "Begone satan! Never tempt me with your vanities! What you offer me is evil. Drink the poison yourself!"
