Well ladies, the time has come. 💛
I’ve been putting off this post for many months. Because let’s face it, closing a chapter is never easy and feels a little like failure. But it’s not. Birdees has been a success each year in business, growing and reaching goals. So it’s not a failure, it’s just the end of a chapter - at least for now. Never say never!
As a hard working, oftentimes perfectionist, I didn’t want to admit to myself that it’s time to focus my talents and time elsewhere. Birdees has been a dream on my heart for the last 15ish years and I took the plunge right before the pandemic and was determined to make it work. And I have.
Countless hours of shopping, marketing, networking, shipping and packaging, strategizing, photos, taxes, accounting, etc. As a one-woman shop, with a busy full-time career, it has been a lot of work but SO rewarding. I have learned more in the last few years of Birdees about business, relationships, laws, and finances than I ever expected.
My mission was to help women look and feel their best. Because when you feel good, you look good, and you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. My FAVORITE thing with this boutique has been helping each of you. 🫶🏼
Whether it was an outfit for engagement photos, family pictures, a wedding wardrobe, college graduation, retirement, a gift for a loved one, or a girls night out, those moments you’ve chosen to support this business for those important memories in your life mean more to me than you’ll ever know. I LOVED hearing about them!
When you’ve supported sales, Birdees Birthday or the Annual Giving Tree event, each sale went so far! Each engagement, share and word of mouth mention helped so much! And let’s not forget another reason I started Birdees was to GIVE BACK.
With your support, we gave $1,000 to two women who were fighting breast cancer at the time. We donated items and gift cards to local charities each year, the local hospital and the Domestic Violence and RCC. And this last year, we gave a large donation to the ND Tears Foundation and MT Ramsey Keller Memorial for pregnancy and child loss - something I needed to do after they both offered support to me in my time of need. 🤍
All I have is gratitude for every single one of you. Every order. Every prayer. Every message of support. This is a tough one, it’s weighed heavily for a long time. But my chin is up and I’m just truly so thankful.
The website will remain up through August for any of your final orders. After that, I’ll be closing down the site because - bills. 😂 Websites aren’t free and neither is Quickbooks! I plan to get to some vendor shows this fall/winter as time allows to sell remaining inventory and whatever’s left will be donated locally to those in need.
If you’d like to shop one last time, you know the drill: birdeesboutique.com
Again, thank you so much. 💛
With all the love and thanks,
Jamie
