🎆 Fireworks Eye Injury? Every Second Matters. 🎆

Fireworks can turn a celebration into an emergency in an instant. If you or someone you know suffers an eye injury from fireworks, seek immediate medical attention.

🚨 DO:
✅ Get emergency medical care right away.

🚫 DO NOT:
• Rub or rinse the injured eye
• Attempt to remove any object stuck in the eye
• Apply pressure to the eye
• Use ointments or eye drops unless directed by a physician
• Take aspirin or ibuprofen, as these may increase bleeding

Eye injuries can be serious and may threaten vision if not treated promptly. The best way to protect your sight is to leave fireworks to the professionals and enjoy displays from a safe distance.

Holiday Office Closure Notice

As we celebrate Independence Day and honor the freedoms we enjoy, all Eye Center South locations will be closed on Friday, July 3rd in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.

When most people think of fireworks injuries, they picture large aerial displays. But the fireworks most commonly linked to emergency room visits may surprise you.

According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, in 2023:
✨ Sparklers were linked to 700 injuries
🧨 Firecrackers were linked to 800 injuries
🚀 Rockets were linked to 500 injuries

Many of these injuries involve the eyes, face, and hands—and children are often among those affected.

Before your holiday celebration:
👁️ Keep a safe distance from all fireworks
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Closely supervise children around sparklers
🎇 Attend professional fireworks displays whenever possible
🚑 Seek immediate medical attention for any eye injury—don't rub the eye or attempt to remove debris yourself
