So everyone wants to know what happened to the "toaster seats"? Well, two weeks of staple pulling,seem ripping, cutting and sewing has come to an end. We had three seat backs that needed redone. Owners just wanted the white replaced, so that's what we did. Units weren't 100% done when pictures were taken. We still needed to let them sit outside and warm up and relax so those little wrinkles come out. But the difference is amazing. Let us do the same for YOU! We often get asked if all we do is watercraft upholstery. We'll, golly gee, no. Our seamstress, Edith, works on everything from patches and zippers to hemming jeans and curtains and we do outdoor furniture and kitchen chairs. Heck, we've even repaired a bounce-house for someone. Edith likes to say, "if I can get it under a needle, I can sew it". But we don't do formal wear or automotive. Sorry, we do not make covers, but have a person who can help you.

Cass Custom Creations and Repairs back with another tip for you on how to put the sexy back into your watercraft AND keep it there.
We had a nice couple bring their cushion backs to us, asking for help. The seats still looked great after 20 years, but the backs looked like someone stuck them in a toaster on high. Seems they have a black cover for their boat that has caused a problem. Dark colors actually attract and hold the heat next to the vinyl. This actually will cook your vinyl and make it crack and turn different shades of brown or in severe cases, even black. While the black covers look really nice, PLEASE stay away from them unless you want to bring them to us every few years to be redone. They can't be fixed. The discolored section has to be replaced which means that the entire cushion needs to be stripped down and disassembled. Hundreds of staples and stitches are removed and then the vinyl replaced and hundreds more stitches and staples put back on after we play tug-o-war with getting the vinyl back on.

So do yourself a favor, and bring us your seat, if it's toaster, and we will fix it. Then get a lighter color cover.

Marine friends and customers. If you have a seat that has come unsewn, please do not try to sew it together by hand or glue it back together. First, it's just plain old ugly. Second, it's not going to hold very long. Third, the edges won't line up and, if brittle, will become sharp and cut you. We have had this question several times and seen it done by others. If a company tells you they can fix it without tearing it apart to resew the material...walk away. Sewing by hand is a quick and temporary fix ONLY. Regular thread will rot faster and not hold as strong. Bring us your damaged seats and have them done correctly.

People always ask what we do. It would be easier to tell you what what we don't do. We do clothing alterations, sew patches, repair cushions, backpacks, clothes, tents, make canvas bags, help develop your projects, repair seats for watercraft, motorcycles and RVs.
