As excited as I was to bring this collection to you today, it was as if the universe at every turn had other plans. After weeks of pattern drafting and tearing up more patterns than I have made in the last 5 years to weeks of sampling just to throw dozens of pieces in a bin to never see the light of day again.. to my serger breaking and getting it serviced just to find out another piece was broken and needed replaced… I finally was very happy with the collection. Then when I dyed everything my dryer stopped working the day of my shoot, I managed to *blow dry*} everything with zero time to spare, only to have a model (and my ride to the studio I rented) ghost me at the time she was supposed to pick me up. I actually thought something tragic happened and spent 25 mins walking around my block looking for her just to realize she wasn’t there. I called an uber and arrived to the studio I paid a lot of money to rent out with half the time left in my booking. My other model and amazing friend and I got some great shots but after so much hard work and to be honest really emotional moments and painful stress, releasing half of a collection that I worked days in a row with no sleep to finish for this shoot just feels.. like I want to cry. It feels forced half done and as a small business these things really set me back, financially, emotionally and energetically.
I guess I wanted to share the reality here because at the end of the day I am just one girl, a girl that never saw myself as a business owner just an artist and through the years it has really taken a toll on me. Behind many small businesses is a lot of tears a lot of failures and a lot of uncertainty and stress. You could work for months but it’s never guaranteed that this work will pay off.
I’m going to take a few days to reset, have another photoshoot and announce a new date. In the meantime I will share the looks we did shoot because they are beautiful, and post some samples that didn’t make the cut in a story sale.
xoxo Christina ❤️🩹
