Yesterday I got to bring my two loves together—fitness and clothing.
I was invited to Barre3’s 13th anniversary party, and it kicked off with a 45-minute class before the parking lot party, where a lineup of small businesses was set up. Coffee, mini pancakes, wellness services, and yes — Salt & Lavender Clothing was there too.
Suzy Mihocik the owner of barre3 Powell, is my friend and my client, right here in my own neighborhood. I knew going in that so many of the women attending would have a connection to SLC. A handful of guests were people I’ve only ever known through socials— we’d been connected online for a while, but had never actually met. There’s nothing quite like finally meeting you in person when I’ve know you on social media for months and sometimes years. It’s a reminder of just how small and connected this community really is.
So many people who stopped by asked if I have a brick and mortar (no— but I love that you ask!), and they complimented many of SLC’s pieces. Every time someone says that, it takes me right back to why I started this in the first place, connection + clothing.
I also got to connect with other small businesses: Amanda Owen | Wild Grove | Concierge + Community - a concierge service that helps busy families get a little extra support in their day-to-day,
Over Grown - a new houseplant boutique in historic Dublin specializing in tropical plants and cacti.
Salt & Lavender Clothing has always been about connecting with the women in my community. And as I was winding down last night, I kept thinking about how Dublin, Ohio is just a special place. There’s a warmth here — a way that small business owners show up for each other, cheer each other on, and genuinely want to see one another succeed. It’s neighbors becoming clients, clients becoming friends, and strangers from socials becoming real-life connections over coffee, mini pancakes and clothing. I don’t take that for granted.
If you’re looking for a reason to get out, socialize a little, connect with other women, and support small businesses in a relaxed, feel-good atmosphere — come find us at our Sip & Shop on 9/20. I’d love to see you there.
