Meet the August Rider of the Month: Kaylon! 👏😃

Fast facts:
🏍️ Is currently circumnavigating the world on his motorcycle
🏍️ Started his journey on May 16th
🏍️ Is on Insta/FB

You are taking your suit around the world, can you tell us about your trip?
"I began the ride in Phoenix, AZ, USA on May 16th. I first made my way to San Diego to complete the entirety of Pacific Coast Highway. After reaching Vancouver and Vancouver Island, I began heading eastward, thus beginning the circumnavigation of the world. On my route to Newfoundland, I dipped back into the USA in Bozeman, MT, USA to serve as a groomsman at my friend’s wedding, Duluth, MN, USA to visit Aerostich, and Butler, PA, USA to visit an old friend. I am currently stopped in Montreal, Quebec, CAN to figure out the final details of shipping my motorcycle across the Atlantic to either Iceland or mainland Europe. As of writing this, I am on day 92 of the Kaʻapuni Honua/Round the World journey. The last major landmass eastward from my start point, and thus my finish line, is Aotearoa/New Zealand.

The logistics of a trip this big have been challenging, but the sights, sounds, places, and people I have met have left experiences and worldviews I could never replace. Peeling apart my motor’s top end in a Saskatchewan motel’s parking lot, the Pic River Tribe Powwow, a Tadoussac fisherman’s story of his father leading his shipwrecked crew back to land by navigating 12 miles of drifting sea ice… so many irreplaceable moments, and I haven’t even left North America yet… who knows what memories the rest of the trip will impart..."

The Aerostich Ultralight Bike Cover is the perfect tool for keeping your bike covered, dry, and out of the sun. It's small enough to take on all your road trips, and it packs into a built-in self-storing pocket about the size of your hand. Overall, it’s half the size of the next smallest full-coverage cover because it’s made from a thinner, lighter fabric. The strong, opaque 2 oz siliconized ripstop nylon is plenty tough and keeps water and dust off your bike. It’s widely used in parachutes, sailboat spinnakers, kites and skysails, but works very well for motorcycles too.

It is the week of new products! 🤩🏍️

This is the last hanger you’ll ever need for your heavy riding gear. Built with a rugged double aluminum frame and a sturdy 1/4" stainless steel hook, it’s made to handle the weight of jackets, suits, and riding apparel with ease. A durable, flexible TPU outer layer adds a pop of color, while integrated shoulder pucks help support your gear properly so it keeps its shape and stays ready for your next ride.

Made in Oregon, USA 🇺🇸

"Work, work, work, work."

Aerostich, this company, is forty-three years old this year. Considering the recent decline in the numbers of motorcyclists interested in longer-distance riding and touring, we are doing ok. After the Covid pandemic ended, most business things for us more-or-less stabilized and we’re optimistic about the future. And although nobody’s getting rich and we’re operating at a smaller scale compared with our 2007-8 peak, everyone here is getting paid in full and on time. This means all co-workers, vendors, lenders, tax collectors - everyone. We have much to be grateful for. So many wonderful customers first, and a solvent business with a small amount of savings for emergencies after that. For any small manufacturing enterprise here in America, this is something.

With a few exceptions (One lawyer, one doctor, a few salespeople, a consultant, a real-estate re-developer and a DJ.) most of my extended family are middle-class workers or small businesspeople. I’m the only clothing manufacturer. My grandparents and great-grandparents were all immigrants as small children or young adults. One became a scrap dealer. Another bought and sold cows and horses then later bought, sold and rebuilt worn out farm tractors. Another was a gourmet chef at some kind of fancy club or resort somewhere in the southwest before becoming my step-grandfather.

I grew up speaking only English, attended only public schools, and later graduated with a BA from the state university branch in my hometown..
