I don’t even know where to begin. March was one hell of a ride and it only seems to be getting more wild as we move into April. Like most of you, I have been staying close to home and avoiding unnecessary trips, etc. I took a good solid week to nest, stew, and wallow, binge; the following week I took to myself to get the self care I needed to be in the right frame of mind to live healthy, be safe, and formulate a plan to move forward. Because as upsetting as this all is, the world keeps turning and the sun keeps shining.

We have all taken great steps with social distancing to keep each other safe and healthy, now I’m calling on you to safely support each other so we can continue to thrive. I realize now more than ever the benefits of online shopping, especially for our small local businesses that have been hit harder than ever within the last 2 years. I have had so many people ask about our store website and how they can continue to shop with us.

We started the store website last year and found it to be so cost ineffective, time consuming, and difficult. What felt like a failure may be our only saving grace for the next several months. I have been working to restore, update and upgrade as we navigate this new way of life. We will be live by Saturday April 4th and will post as soon as we are up and ready. The shop will be *closed* until further notice. In this current state we feel this is in the best interest of our friends, family, and community. Please try and support your local businesses that are currently open whether it be take out, groceries, etc; and also remember the closed local businesses will need our continued support upon reopening. warning: long post ahead. Next month marks 2 years that we’ve been in business. In the course of those two years we’ve experienced a lot of hardship, success, growing pains, and excitement. The amount of hard work, sleepless nights, tears, laughter, and love that has gone into creating this business is literally too much for me to remember it all, let alone share. But this dream and business could not and definitely is not a reality without the love, support and help of so many people; including friends, family, and the complete strangers that come in each day and make a purchase big or small that enables me to continue living this dream in real life. Our second year of business was a little rougher than the first, but with anything in life there is a learning curve and you learn to persevere. Year two was marked by flooding, broken bones/surgery, and fire once again. 2019 was rough personally and professionally just no way to cut that; but what was also one of the hardest years of my life was also the most giving, loving and exciting years. With all bad there is good, with all darkness there is light, and definitely no rewards without risk. To all our friends near and far, thanks for letting .masonjames to continue to be a part of your life with your support big or small, every purchase, every insta like/share, and every time you recommend to a friend allows us to continue to grow and thrive. Can’t wait for this new year and decade to see what we can continue to do together. Ok will stop ranting now!! Just the beginning...

Moving home to Sonoma County in July of 2016, I was in transition, applying for jobs and contemplating my next move. It was the time at home with my family and in a place I love, that I realized I did not want to leave and how could I best use my talents and skills nearby. The opportunity for a retail space followed soon after and everything else fell into line. With many obstacles, but many successes Mason James has come full circle opening our doors in March of 2018. Mason James named after my two brothers, my ride or dies, is everything that I love. It's family, its comfort, its cool. Everything in the store I have personally hand picked with my community in mind. Visit us in the beautiful Duncans Mills and see for yourself. Our doors are always open, with music bumping, candles burning, and candy for all.
