A Piece of Quiet Quilts Timeless Sophistication for Modern Living
Quilt Pattern Design & Longarm Quilting Services. Hi! I’m so glad you’re here.

Welcoming local and mail in quilts. for 15% off first quilt! I’m Meghan, the quilter, longarmer, and pattern designer behind A Piece of Quiet Quilts. Quilting has been part of my life since childhood, and it has grown into the most unexpected and joy-filled career. I recently moved into my own studio here in Durham, and it has opened up a whole new chapter for my business: more space fo

r quilting, for teaching, and for gathering. Longarm Quilting Services
One of the things I love most is helping quilters bring their tops to life. I use a 12-foot APQS Lucey with IntelliQuilter to offer professional digital edge-to-edge quilting with a typical two-week turnaround. Whether you’re finishing a heirloom quilt, a modern throw, or a quick gift, I’m here to add texture and care to your work. Quilt Patterns
I also design quilt patterns that blend modern style with timeless sophistication. I’ve released several patterns and have many more in the works, each created to help you grow your skills and enjoy the process. New Studio, New Possibilities
With my new studio space, I’m expanding into classes, workshops, and small-group sewing days. The goal is simple: to create a welcoming place where quilters can learn, make, and connect. I love seeing people gather around the cutting tables, laughing over color choices, or diving into new techniques together. Community has always been at the heart of quilting, and I’m excited to nurture that here in Durham. A Bit of My Story
I made my first “quilt” around age 10, a funny little blanket stitched from pre-cut squares and whatever we had around the house. It wasn’t fancy, but it became the most-loved sick-day snuggle quilt. My dad was a carpenter, and he passed on a love of making that shows up in everything I do. Today, quilting is my creative outlet, my work, and my happy place, especially when I’m hand-binding on the couch after the kids go to bed. If you ever have questions about longarming, patterns, classes, or studio rentals, you can always reach me at [email protected].

Can you find the seam?

I've been itching to document this process for so long, and on my last quilt finish I finally took photos along the way.

This is how I pattern match a quilt backing so the seam disappears. Finding the repeat, pressing, glue-basting, sewing right along that pressed line. It's slower than just piecing two halves together, but flipping a quilt over to one cohesive print on the back is always worth it.

Fabric pictured is Campfire Stories from Art Gallery Fabrics' Happy Camper line.

Comment "MATCHING" and I'll send you the full post.

Happy mail arrived and I cannot stop looking at this happy little pile of fabric.⁣

This is Christmas in Color from Art Gallery Fabrics, and I love everything about this collection. The reds and pinks together feel festive without being strictly Christmas. It's the kind of fabric that could stay out all winter.⁣

I'm cutting into it right now to make the sample for my July pattern release: Full Frame. Curves, clean lines, and a design I've been working toward for a while.⁣

The lookbook drops in July. Stay tuned.⁣
