This year, at the East Barnard Linen Fair, we will be having an exhibit of art made from flax. This grows form workshops given by our Belgian artist-in-residence, Germana Tack. Come to the Linen Fair and see the creativity expressed in flax fibre. Artists reception Friday 6 September, 6 - 8 pm at the East Barnard Church.

Some photos of us bringing flax to the barn…this year we have been harvesting by hand once again but next year we will have our harvesting equipment in use which will be a game changer! We are importing the first flax harvesting machines, a puller, turner and modified baler, from Belgium to enter North America in many years! Woohoo!! We plan to always hand harvest at least one (small) field to show folks the process and help them learn about why it is done the way it is. (One of the photos is of loose flax that is headed to local farmer for bedding in their barnyard through the wet, muddy winter months…this is flax that was too short or lodged to be worth pulling for processing).
