Artist Statement

There is this continuous helplessness that seems to flow through my subconscious and spill out into my work. My paintings, for the first time, have become intuitive rather than calculated. See I sit in front of a blank canvas with the vision of color and tune out while watching my hands dance with the brushes to create the seascapes in front of you. I like control and lately I’ve felt disorderly, like I’m drifting through a storm I cannot curb so for now I will be swept away in the sea and paint my restless feelings.

Our September theme is Kindred. Read thoughts below..

The fall is a time when everything comes home. Crisp air brings sweetness to the remaining harvest and encourages us to gather. Around fires, the stories of our adventures are first told. It’s a ritual of laughter, remembrance and togetherness. We settle into our daily rhythms. A lower angled light casts deep shadows of plants as they turn golden then bare. It’s a time of heartiness and familiarity. A time to deepen connections.

Our featured curation this month touches on gathering and coming home. Saturated hues, and soft textiles. Milky glazed ceramics and warming scents. As this new season carries over we’ll explore the deepening feeling of familiarity, comfort and togetherness.

Artist Statement

Fall has always been my favorite season, and in this work I wanted to capture that moment when the landscape feels alive with change - when the sun filters through branches and the ground glows with earthy warmth. Autumn is not just a season of endings, but of vibrant transformation. It reminds me that beauty is often found in flux, in the layering of light, shadow and memory.

The tree, central and strong, anchors the composition, while the surrounding colors echo the cycles of time - a reminder that nature is always teaching us about renewal, resilience and the poetry of change.

Our August theme is Nostalgia… thoughts below

NOSTALGIA

Every season has its change.

The task becomes brushing away the layers that were once labored to build. Time never stands still and life is made of moments. It’s the season of late summer when nostalgia creeps in. The season of wind swept golden grass full of ripened seed. The season where the sky is still crisp blue and whimsy clouds glaze over head. It’s the season when the chicories bloom and line the roads in periwinkle, that my heart is reflected.

Witnessing the parade of every flower gone by, having danced in the sun, we lean into a dream in late summer. We are warm, our hearts full of romance and adventure. Though the light is slowingly dwindling. We know that chill and certain death is a marker on the horizon. But for now, our hands wander in pools of water. Our feet land barefoot on the warm earth. Our minds can float away on the melody of birds, the breeze and simple times. It’s the later days of summer and soon it will end. The nostalgia arrives like a familiar tale told again and again in a familiar place by a familiar person. Our summer days draw on and we relish, though soon to forget.

May the glimmering days of summer bring you a saturated deep glow of warm, light and reflection. May it be like a pleasant dream for you to enjoy.
