Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!

Today it's a girl's scuba pageant wear with ruffle sleeves that we present to you!

For a pageant that took place this past weekend, Fairy Godmother Alterations let down the hemline as much as possible to the color block bodycon mini dress, with asymmetrical neckline, by Jovani Fashion, in Pink/Orange.

For the one-of-a-kind and custom-made one-shoulder jumpsuit with spaghetti strap in similar colors, by J Marie Designs, Fairy Godmother hemmed up the flared pantlegs to shorten them just a bit.

Now this pageant princess was ready to present herself in these brightly colored scuba outfits that were each at the perfect length.

And remember; if you are competing in the upcomming Shenandoah County Fair Scholarship Pageant, we can do all the alterations for you too! 👑

Until next time, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!

Today's two maxi dresses are for a Mother-of-the-Groom, and both in blue!

The first dress she wore was for Friday evening's Rehearsal Dinner- a linen-blend, flutter sleeve geometric pattered V-neck dress, by Sail to Sable, in Blue Ikat color.

All Fairy Godmother Alterations did to modify this dress was to raise the deep V-neckline a bit so that the point wouldn't meet at the cinched waistline.

Now this Mom has a perfect rehearsal dress that can easily be dressed up or down, allowing for an easy transition from day to night. It's also easy to pack for any summer weekend at a resort!

The following day on Saturday for the wedding, she wore this fully 3-D floral embroidered illusion lace dress, by Eliza J, in the classic color of Navy Blue.

For this airy mesh gown, Fairy Godmother hemmed the A-line skirt, taking care to not cut into any of the 3-D flowers. She also adjusted the strap placement at the back of the V neckline.

She looked beautiful in her blue blooms gown as she graced down that aisle in this dreamy dress.

Next up is pageant wear, so stay tuned, and until then, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!

Today's dress-of-the-day is for a Vow-Renewal taking place in West Virginia.

This Bridal Princess actually came to Fairy Godmother Alterations with a different wedding dress:
The dress she arrived with was a strapless Ivory satin A-line gown, with a black satin band around the hemline, and black lace throughout the front of the bodice, that zipped in the back.
Though that dress with court-length train fit perfectly, this Bride wanted a lace-up back, as what was - falsely! - promised by the site that she had ordered from (see last photo).
Not only that, but both her and the Fairy Godmother were quite disappointed in how the Black embellishments, including a satin sash, were ONLY added to the front side of the dress, cheapening the look, so naturally, this Bride also wanted more black lace added to the back along with a lace-up conversion.

Converting a zip-up to a lace-up is actually one of Fairy Godmother's specialties, but this time, she had a better idea!:

Upstairs among her vintage bridal gown collection, she brought down a similarly styled, late-2000's wedding dress, complete with a lace-up back feature, by Alfred Angelo, style 1612, AND IT WAS IN HER SIZE!!!!
Not only that, but the hemline to this A-line skirt with chapel-length train fell at the perfect length too!
So of course, this Bride instantly fell in love with this similar gown, and could immediately see the difference in quality between this White with Black accented dutchess satin gown, and the cheaper satin one she wore moments before.
It was meant to be.

So luckily, only minimal alterations were needed for this perfect wedding dress:

First, Fairy Godmother made a white panel to go behind the Black lace-up section of this dress, since it was missing.
Usually, the panel is supposed to be of matching color, but this time White was chosen so that the Black ribbon tie (and black loops) would stand out, to give it some very slight contrast for visual interest.

Next, Fairy Godmother removed the black satin band of fabric from the hemline of the other dress, and sewed it around the hemline of the Alfred Angelo gown, just below all the beaded embroidery design details on the skirt.
The Fairy purposely did not add the black material all the way around the skirt- just up to each side of the beaded Black ribbon tails that cascaded all the way down from the backside of the straight neckline.
This was done to keep the fully embroidered center back panel of the dress the visual focus.
Now, the solid black hemline on the gown balanced the black-accented and beaded scroll embroidered strapless neckline, making the whole dress look complete!

Last but not least, a French style underbustle was added to the back, for the long train.
An underbustle was chosen since it would be more flattering for the embroidery-detailed accent-color tails.

Today, this vow-renewal Bride will feel like a true princess in this classic princess-seamed gown, adorned with tons of beautiful, timeless, and eye-catching pearl-embellished and beaded scroll embroidery motifs throughout the entire gown, that now has just enough black.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!

It's nearing the weekend, meaning more outfits coming your way, starting with this story hot off Fairy Godmother Alterations 's rack that we tell you!

For her brother's black tie wedding taking place tomorrow at the historic Perry Bellmont House in DC (https://www.ihbelmontevents.com), this Wedding Guest brought her Black crepe Mac Duggal gown to Fairy Godmother.

To make this mermaid gown the perfect fit, Fairy Godmother first hemmed the flared skirt, making sure to keep the hidden horsehair braid around the bottom edge, but removed the short train portion.

Next, she took the dress in along the zipper seam at the back, so that it would fit this slender wedding guest perfectly.

Final adjustments included tweaking some of the rhinestone embellishments around the detailed, pearl-draped cap-sleeve illusion neckline.

She is sure to be the best dressed guest in this elegant gown of dramatic mermaid silhouette, that is perfect for this black tie wedding.

Then, at 3pm yesterday, this Wedding Guest called the Fairy Godmother in a panic due to a fashion emergency- they had just picked up her Mother-of-the-Groom's floral jacquard AZAZIE Harriet style dress, with removable shoulder straps, from another seamstress, and while it was taken in correctly at the zipper seam along the back, the altered hemline was not only too short but also crooked!

Fortunately, Fairy Godmother is currently ahead of her schedule and is currently working on her August wedding outfits, so she had time to fix this situation!

At 6pm, Mom arrived with her pleated, off-shoulder, Dark Navy gown, and Fairy Godmother could see how the softly pleated and graceful A-line skirt was shorter in the back, and also higher at her left side.
She took a ruler and measured the highest point of the altered hemline, which was 2 inches above the floor, and then measured the rest of the hemline accordingly, and then also adjusted the lining layer.

By 8pm, not only was the hemline straightened, but Fairy Godmother also added in the bust cups in to the pleated bodice, and steamed out the wrinkles that the first seamstress didn't do.

(*Since this gown was a custom-size order from the website, the front-twist accented neckline wrapped around to a zip-up closure, as opposed to the pictured lace-up back seen in the stock image.)

Now they are on their way to DC, and this Mother-of-the-Groom will also look elegant tomorrow in her flattering gown crafted from luxurious floral jacquard, that has timeless sophistication.

Until Next wedding attire, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!
