She was sixteen when the world turned hard. Jane Avery buried her father behind the ranch house, under the cottonwood where sheโ€™d learned to ride, rope, and shoot from the saddle. The men who killed him figured the land would be easy to takeโ€”just a girl left behind, soft and frightened. But Jane had her fatherโ€™s C**t. And she had spent long nights listening to him explain the weight of a trigger, the cost of a bullet, and the simple rule of the frontier: no one protects you but you.
So when they rode through the gate at sundown, she didnโ€™t cry and she didnโ€™t plead. She waited.
The first man died before his boots touched the porch. The others scattered, expecting fear to break her. But Jane stood still, breathing slow, elbows set just like her father taught her. One shot at a time, she sent them back to the dirt that had raised them. When the gun smoke settled, only silence and spent brass lay in the dust.
She sat on the steps, reloaded, and watched the sky burn itself into nightโ€”steady as a clock, cold as winter creek water. Not triumphant. Not shaken. Just done.
By dawn, the story had crossed Dodge and beyondโ€”a slip of a girl had faced five armed men and walked away. Folks argued over how. Some called it divine favor. Some called it madness. But anyone whoโ€™d looked her in the eye said different.
Jane Avery didnโ€™t have luck.
She had resolve.
And a hand that did not shake.
Courage doesnโ€™t ask your age.
And justice doesnโ€™t care if your hands are smallโ€”
so long as theyโ€™re steady.

Why isn't this map in history books?
Before 1492, the Americas were far from "empty."
Over 70 million indigenous people lived on the continent, with hundreds of tribes, thousands of languages, each with its own territory and culture.
The map below shows North America before the invasion โ€“ when the indigenous tribes were at their peak.
After 1492, war, disease, and forced displacement wiped out much of those civilizations.
This is more than just a map.
This is a forgotten history.

Jay Silverheels, best known for his portrayal of Tonto in The Lone Ranger television series (1949โ€“1957), was a groundbreaking actor of Indigenous heritage who helped break stereotypes in Hollywood. Born Harold J. Smith on May 26, 1912, on the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario, Canada, he was an accomplished athlete before turning to acting. He excelled in lacrosse and even played professional sports before a chance encounter led him to Hollywood. His rugged looks and natural screen presence earned him roles in western films throughout the 1940s, but it was his role as Tonto that made him a cultural icon. Playing the loyal companion to Clayton Mooreโ€™s Lone Ranger, Silverheels brought dignity and intelligence to a character that could have been a simple sidekick.

Despite the limitations imposed by Hollywood at the time, Silverheels worked tirelessly to improve the portrayal of Native Americans on screen. He often spoke out against stereotypical depictions and sought roles that showcased Indigenous people in a more positive light. Beyond acting, he was a mentor and advocate for young Native American actors, encouraging them to pursue careers in the film industry. After his acting career slowed, Silverheels remained active in community work and even founded the Indian Actors Workshop. He passed away on March 5, 1980, but his contributions to film and representation continue to be honored today.

"The villains are fairly obvious in โ€œFlower Moon,โ€ but Scorsese asks audiences to take a wider look at systemic racism, historical injustice and the corruptive influence of power and money, intriguingly tying together our past and present." ~ Brian Truitt,
"Gladstone, in the rare Scorsese film that gives center stage to a female character, is the emotional core here, and it's her face that stays etched in our memory."
~ Jocelyn Noveck
โ€œThis is for every little Rez kid, every little urban kid, every little Native kid out there who has a dream and is seeing themselves represented in our stories told by ourselves, in our own words..." ~ Lily Gladstone

At 83, Mexican-born Felipe Espinoza fulfilled a dream decades in the makingโ€”graduating from college in Texas. For most of his life, Espinoza prioritized working to provide for his family, setting aside his own academic aspirations. After immigrating to the U.S., he finally enrolled, facing the challenge of returning to the classroom among students generations younger.
With steady resolve, he completed his studies, earning a degree that inspired not only his peers and professors, but his entire community. Espinozaโ€™s story is a testament to perseverance, proving that determination and passion for learning can make โ€œtoo lateโ€ a myth.

Missed the first 20 minutes of the party dedicated to the end of filming of his new film in one of the clubs in New York.
He waited patiently in the rain to be let in.
No one recognized him.
The club owner said: "I didn't even know Keanu was standing in the rain waiting to be let in - he didn't say anything to anyone." "He travels by public transport". "He easily communicates with homeless people on the street and helps them".
- He is only 61 years old (September 2, 1964) - He can just eat a hot dog in the park, sitting between ordinary people.
- After filming one of the "Matrix", he gave all the stuntmen a new motorcycle - in recognition of their skill.
- He gave up most of the fee for the salaries of costume designers and computer scientists who draw special effects in "The Matrix" - decided that their share of participation in the budget of the film was underestimated.
- He reduced his fee in the film The Devil's Advocate" to have enough money to invite Al Pacino.
- Almost at the same time his best friend died; his girlfriend lost a child and soon died in a car accident, and his sister fell ill with leukemia.
Keanu did not break: he donated $5 million to the clinic that treated his sister, refused to shoot (to be with her), and created the Leukemia Foundation, donating significant sums from each fee for the film. You can be born a man, but to remain one..

Cheyenne Dog Soldiers
Of all the typical Plains tribes, the Cheyenne were most distinguished for warlike qualities. Few in number, they overcame or held in check most of the peoples who opposed them, and when the westward movement of European civilization began, they made more trouble than all the rest combined. In short, they were preeminently warriors among peoples whose trade was war.
As in other Plains tribes, the warriors of the Cheyenne were organized into societies or orders. These societies were fraternal, military, and semi-religious organizations with special privileges, duties, and dress, usually tracing their origin to some mythical culture hero or medicine man. Each society had its own songs and secret ritual and exacted certain observances and standards of its members.
Of these organizations, none played such a part in the history of the Plains as the โ€œDog Soldiersโ€ of the Cheyenne

Happy 78th Birthday to Wes Studi.
Today we celebrate 78 years of Wes Studi โ€” a man whose presence in Hollywood reshaped how Native American characters are seen, heard, and respected on screen. From Dances with Wolves to The Last of the Mohicans, from Geronimo to Heat, Wes Studi brought strength, intelligence, and quiet authority to every role he played.
In an industry that too often relied on stereotypes, he stood firm as a storyteller of truth. His performances were never just acting โ€” they carried history, dignity, and a deep sense of identity. Hollywood is richer because of him, not only for the unforgettable characters he gave us, but for the doors he opened and the standards he set.
At 78, Wes Studi remains a symbol of integrity and excellence in Hollywood cinema.

In 1961, Your mother Holt married bank manager Gilbert LaPiere, who adopted Cher (under the name Cheryl LaPiere) and Georganne, and enrolled them at Montclair College Preparatory School, a private school in Encino, whose students were mostly from affluent families. The school's upper-class environment presented a challenge for Cher; biographer Connie Berman wrote, "[she] stood out from the others in both her striking appearance and outgoing personality." A former classmate commented, "I'll never forget seeing Cher for the first time. She was so special ... She was like a movie star, right then and there ... She said she was going to be a movie star and we knew she would." Despite not being an excellent student, Cher was intelligent and creative, according to Berman. She earned high grades, excelling in French and English classes. As an adult, she discovered that she had dyslexia. Cher's unconventional behavior stood out: she performed songs for students during the lunch hours and surprised peers when she wore a midriff-baring top.She later recalled, "I was never really in school. I was always thinking about when I was grown up and famous.
