Matagorda County Commissioners Court members heard two different vantage points about local county governance from people addressing them at the court’s regular meeting public comments section Monday.
All federal, county, and city offices will be closed for Labor Day Monday and will reopen for regular business hours Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Bay City Lions Club showed off the 2026 Rice Festival Queen’s Pageant Dress and announced the deadline for Rice Festival Queen’s Pageant entries will be Sept. 23.
City Council set Sept. 15 for budget and tax rate hearings, considered an amended public events ordinance and heard an Animal Control update at council’s meeting Aug. 25.
City Manager Scotty Jones presented the 2027 property tax rate of .56193 per $100 valuation approved unanimously after weeks of council budget workshops.
Bay City Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture President Mitch Thames put out a call for prospective Chamber Ambassador Club applicants.
Fort Bend Small Business Development Center Business Advisor Daniel Luu led an “Entrepreneur 101” workshop last week.
