Folklorico dress repair… 🥴 took over an hour just to remove the original (torn) lace. Another hour to see the flat lace into gathering. Let’s see how long it takes to put the two layers of lace back on… six dresses total to do. ☠️
But they are going to be beautiful for sure!
There is a reason handmade dresses like this cost a pretty (defunct) penny. Anything you buy online will have half the gathers, cheaper material, and the stitching will be one very quick and weak line of thread. These dresses have been danced in successfully for years because they were well made in the first place. Pay the money and get a great product!

Working on skirts for next weekend and all the upcoming markets and I needed they my serger working again. I found this buried deep in my inherited treadle singer machine. Super cool! What’s not cool? Having extra pieces left over that you can’t figure out where they came from because you counted EVERY PIECE and yet, four pieces popped out of nowhere and two rolled away into the ether to join my missing socks and now I have these two pieces left that….don’t appear to go anywhere…
I guess I know what I’m doing in a couple of weeks— to the repair shop we go! Let’s see if it works in the meantime…
