This is the final results from my earlier post. This tee shirt quilt is from East Carolina college. It measures 60by 60, enough to be nice and cozy. When doing a tee shirt quilt remember to put interfacing on the back of it after they are cut out. This will keep them flat and easier to sew. The back is just a cotton/polyester blend.

My grand daughter said , my daddy needs a blanket.
Can we make one for him? So we got to work on it about three weeks ago. The first thing we did was to decide what she wanted on it. She said he likes fishing and stuff. Needless to say that is what we went with. Next we picked out a piece of fabric which was a light blue. You can use either fabric or a cotton sheet. This was a cotton pollyester blend. For me this works best. After that we sat down with paper and kind of made a rough sketch. Once she was happy with it, the real work began. Keep in mind I was working with a four year old. So it took us a while to get it done. I pressed out the fabric so it would be flat. Then we picked the fabric paint she wanted to use. Orange was the first choice and we did handprint fish. You paint the child's hand and press it onto the fabric. Next she wanted a mermaid, so I painted her hand red and pressed it on the fabric, that was to be her hair . Her body was purple made from her for arm. Head and arms were just drawn on with fabric markers. If you use regular markers they will bleed everywhere. We went on to our octopus. She decided to draw that. Then she colored it like Patrick from SpongeBob. After that next was the jellyfish. This one she enjoyed doing. Just a circle with lots of different colored sqiggly lines coming out from the bottom. Those are just a few of the highlights. Once all the pictures and handprints are done, onto the next step. This part I did. She helped picking out the backing fabric which happened to be as teal colored cotton sheet. It was a twin size. I only used the flat sheet. The only place I can fine a single flat sheet is Walmart. Next I made a sandwich. The back fabric was laid right side down flat and I used spry adhesive on it. That seems to hold things in place better than using pins. Remember just cover it with a light coat. After that put a layer of quilt batting of your choice on top of the bottom making sure it stays flat. Next spay a thin layer of adhesive on top of the batting and then lay the top of the quilt on top of the batting, being careful to flatten out as you lay it down. The next step is to finish it. I choose to use the backing as the boarder also. To do this just fold over the sides on top of the outsides of the quilt and sew. You could certainly leave it like that or quilt it. Have fun .

These are the picture sorry they did not get done on the post.

This is a cell phone/ tablet holder. Sometime when you are playing games or doing puzzles or maybe even just looking at facebook . If you are on a device for a long period of time your hand can sometimes cramp up or just get tired. This little baby can help you with that. Just turn your device on and set it in place. The cell phone/tablet holder is made of sturdy cotton fabric. It only takes about ten minutes or so to make it. You will need polly-fil, either rice or beans, a small piece of cardboard or plastic canvas, a sewing machine, a hand sewing needle and thread . Cut a piece of fabric 16inches by 6 inches long. With right sides together, fold it in half and sew down one side of it from top to bottom. Sew the other side down about 2 inches, backstitch to hold the stich. Then leave about 2 inche open and finish sewing down to the bottom. Leave the bottom open. Now turn the fabric right side out and press. Make sure you press the opening also. Now measure up two inches from the bottom and draw a line lightly. Measure up another half an inch and draw a light line. The line you measured last, is the one you should sew now. After that from the bottom slide a piece of either canvas or cardboard up to the line you just sewed. Make sure it is bumped up against the sewed line snug. Now sew the second line across just under the canvas. This is where the phone will sit. Fold in the bottom of the fabric just a little and press. Sew to the center and stop. Leave a 2 inch opening and go ahead and sew to the other end. Now comes the fun part. Fill the bottom with polly-fil , I made mine tight. Remember though you will have to stich the bottom closed so you will have to judge that for yourself. Time to close it up. You need a needle and matching thread. This will have to be hand stiched. You can use any kind of stich you want to close it. Ok back up to the top. Time to close this up too. First measure out 2 cups of either rice or beans. After that take a funnel and put it in the opening you left now start pouring in the rice or beans slowly. After the step is done, finish filling in the area with polly-fil. All that is left is to sew it up. At this point you can decide if you want to add in a piece of ribbon or a pom-pom on the top. Ok get your needle and close up the opening and you are all done.

This sweet quilt was made for my new great grand baby. He is supposed to come into this world next month. We are so ready to meet him. The quilt was made of cotton blend fabric. The back of it is a soft blue like the background color. It is quilted simply using a cris cross pattern. I also added a red Swiss dot boarder. Then I added the blue as an outside boarder.

This was a fun project that my granddaughter and I did one afternoon. She wanted to do something for Easter. We started with a simple medium size embroidery hoop. You can also use a plain white paper plate, just cut out the middle. Next we cut out of poster board a ring about 2 inches wider than the hoop. After that I hot glued it onto the hoop, making sure it was some what even on both sides.( Make sure an adult dose this part). Next Kayleen and I cut out some egg shapes out of fun foam. if you do not have that just use whatever you have( construction paper, newspaper, plain or wrapping paper.) After that Kayleen and I decorated the egg shapes. We used markers, glitter markers, sequins, and Rick rack. Just use what ever you have on hand and have fun. Using regular white glue works or tacky glue works a little better. The next step is to lay the egg shapes on the ring, once you are happy with you design, then glue them onto the poster board. Make sure you kind of angle them so there is not so much space between them. Kayleen wanted grass around the eggs, so we just cut so small pieces of the green fun foam and glued it on the open spaces. The last part was to make a bow(I did that). Oh and do not forget at the top, glue a small piece of ribbon on the back in order to be able to hang it up.
