This is Melissa. If what I'm about to say makes you angry, you should know I'm not concerned with your feelings. This is for the people in our community who are rightfully scared for their lives, scared for a loved one, or concerned for the the state of our republic.
To those who are informed, engaged, and outraged, you are not alone. I never thought I'd see the day when US streets were patrolled by federal agents kitted out like I was when under imminent threat in Afghanistan.
But that's where we are now.
Don't lose hope. There are still good people out there.
Keep peacefully protesting. Keep recording. And build community.
We must endure so we can hold them accountable.
In the meantime, I'm sharing the freewritten-rage I wrote on my personal page that reflects clearly my stance on current events. I know many people worry about where they spend their money, and, while we aren't currently open, we plan to in the future.
Silence is complicity.

I am gobsmacked
the irony is overwhelming
defending federalies covering their faces
because they might be identified
while simultaneously ignoring
vulnerable humans
grandmothers
dads
infants
cancer patients
school children
*being actively hunted*
arrested without a warrant
***taken from their families***
from
their jobs
the hospital
daycares
schools
an errand
the street
the grocery store
court hearings
inside their cars
behind the locked doors of their homes
their immigration appointments
CITIZENSHIP SWEARING CEREMONIES
often handled with undue aggression
and then
denied access to hygienic facilities
denied access to medical care
denied access to religious services
denied access to adequate food and water
denied due process
detained in deplorable conditions
like CECOT
like Alligator Alcatraz
by cronies who refuse outside observers with the legal authority to conduct oversight
and deported to where they
fled because of danger
left for a chance at the American dream
never lived
haven't lived for decades
are wholly unconnected to
don't speak the language
have no connections
despite oftentimes having the necessary documents
under the false premise they are dangerous criminals
but really because their skin is brown
as permitted by a blatantly partisan and demonstrably corrupt SCOTUS
via a purposely broken immigration system
weaponized by a government
that has been actively dismantling our institutions
and consumer and citizen protections
for the last fifty years
for political clout
power
money
and control
and the bible pushers being okay with it
