CANCELED DUE TO THE SHUTDOWN.........On October 19th the once thriving Royal Port of Entry on the north side of the Virginia Peninsula known as York will celebrate Yorktown Day commemorating the surrender of the British Army which in essence ended the War for Independence. In York County all the schools close and their bands and color guards participate in a long parade down Main Street. It is a big deal. Dignitaries from England and France are there to pay tribute to the meaning and impact of such an historic event and honor those who lost their lives. But why is it only a big deal in York County Virginia? With an event so significant to our nation’s history the entire country should celebrate or at the very least have it noted on all calendars so people will know how important the day is and perhaps want to learn something about it. Perhaps there is a way to start a petition.
Revolution Wear will be there along with a few other sutlers to help celebrate. Come down, stay in historic Williamsburg, eat in the taverns and join in!

Revolution Wear attended Endview and set up with the other sutlers and had two standout visitors. They were working with a film crew in Colonial Williamsburg and took a break to visit the action at Endview. Staying in the Brick House Tavern on Duke of Gloucester Street I took a walk early Monday morning and saw them at work in front of the Printers & Post Office each looking very smart in their Rev Wear hats and shirt!

Endview Plantation just outside of Yorktown, Virginia is hosting a large reenactment on the weekend of September 20-21, “The Peoples Revolution”. Revolution Wear has yet to attend an event at this venue so we are really looking forward to being a part of the action.... From their website.
The People’s Revolution
• September 20, 9:00AM-4:30PM and September 21, 10:00AM – 2:00PM
• Historic Endview
• Free admission
Experience the Revolution in Virginia through the eyes of those who witnessed it with this living history weekend at Historic Endview! The People’s Revolution will include a series of reenactments of local events, a large-scale artillery siege, a theatrical performance, and more. The VA250 Mobile Museum will be on-site both days with its exhibit, “Out of Many, One,” open from 9:00AM to 5:00PM.
Saturday’s programming will focus on Virginia’s entry into the American Revolution. Reenactments will include the aftermath of the Battle of Hampton from the point of neutral Virginians deciding which side of the war they will fight for, a reading of Dunmore’s Proclamation, and the Battles of Kemp’s Landing and Great Bridge. In the afternoon, along with an artillery tactical demonstration, there will be a performance of the acclaimed theatrical piece, “Tag, Rag, and Bobtail: Women Belonging to the Army,” by Meadow and Stars, LLC, telling the stories of women on both sides of the conflict, Loyalist and Patriot. On Sunday, there will be an 18th-century military church service, horse and drill demonstrations, and a large siege battle reenactment in the afternoon.
Admission to all programs is FREE. All programming is outdoors, so guests are encouraged to dress accordingly. There will be a food truck as well as historical and modern vendors available. While service animals are welcome, pets are not permitted on the event grounds.
