Knitting Knicely

Knitting Knicely I love to help knitters learn the joys of cable knitting. Hello! And thanks for visiting my page! Let me briefly introduce myself.

Join me to start exploring the possibilities of creating your own intricate patterns and have fun playing with the stitches! I’m Donielle Showvay, the Knitting Coach, and I help knitters, whether beginner or experienced, learn to knit with cables. I love to encourage people to learn new techniques and to advance their knitting skills. Playing around with stitches by creating twists and turns opens

up whole new possibilities in the patterns you can create. If you are new to cable knitting, you can get started today by working on a small but practical project. I’ve put together a small free knit-along, where you’ll learn some basic cable techniques as you knit four cute little coasters. You can join by going to this link: https://aw18ead0.aweb.page/cozy-cabled-coaster-kal
If you like the exclusivity and specialized help that one-on-one classes can provide, feel free to reach out to me by messaging me through this page. These classes are by design very limited, so if you are interested, be sure to contact me so we can schedule you in. Knitting Knicely also designs and creates knitting patterns such as blankets, hats, shawls, new baby photo props, etc. Completed items are in limited supply, so if you see something you love, please comment with your info so we can get it to you ASAP. After so many have reached out asking for a pattern for this , I’ve decided to write one! But I’ll need a few testers to see if I’ve made the instructions clear and easy to follow. Anyone interested?

Welp! It took forever to design and knit up, but it’s finally here! Hurray! My second Lord of the Rings Double Knit Blanket is officially published!
This one features the giant fiery Eye of Sauron found atop the Dark Tower of Barad-dûr in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings series.
You can find a link to the pattern in my profile. 😁 Hope you enjoy it!
And in case you’re wondering, yes! This one is also non-mirrored, meaning it can be read correctly on both sides. But this one is extra special, because on one side the writing is in Sindarin, which when pronounced correctly, will sound out the English version of the poem:

“One ring to rule them all
One ring to find them
One ring to bring them all
And in the darkness bind them.”

On the second side, the poem is also written in Sindarin, but when pronounced correctly, will sound out the Black Speech version of the poem:

“Ash nazg durbatulûk
Ash nazg gimbatul
Ash nazg thrakatulûk
Ash burzum-ishi krimpatul”

I used Expression Fiber Arts for this one with size US 1.5 (2.5mm) needles.
The finished size is 32” x 49.5” (79 cm x 124 cm)

Happy double knitting!

CALL FOR TEST CROCHET: Want to take a little walk through a Labyrinth with me? This poncho is made using Linked crochet, which is a little bit similar to Tunisian crochet, but not requiring the long Tunisian crochet hook. You can use your normal crochet hook! This one is called Labyrinth because it was inspired by those life-sized mazes that you can walk through with the tall hedges as the walls of the maze. I absolutely love how the gradient yarn from looks and feels in this one! The lace yarn is held double for most of the poncho, giving it a nice drape. (I soooo wish I could keep the sample I made!!)

Remember Fizz, the knitted shawl I designed to commemorate my tenth year as owner of Knitting Knicely? Well, now she has a sister shawl that is crocheted, named Bubbles! This one needs a bit of test crocheting to make it as perfect as possible! If you would love to be one of the first crocheters to make this beautiful shawl, please let me know!
You can apply to test Bubbles by going to Yarnpond at this link: https://www.yarnpond.com/pattern_tests/5733
