Last Call for Prom Dresses!

Just a reminder, I am only accepting Prom dresses and Bridesmaids dresses for May weddings until April 15th so get your appointments scheduled before it's too late!

I will be accepting Bridesmaids dresses for June weddings until April 30th.

Because my daughter is getting married in May (and so I can enjoy her wedding and have a little rest afterward), I am not scheduling any appointments in May.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this exciting and busy time!

Here's another project from the fall. A young lady came to me looking to have her dress lengthened. She had used this dress for a few years and wanted to wear it to homecoming but had grown a bit. It can be hard to lengthen a dress when there isn't a wide hem and trying to match blues can be a challenge. We decided to pull from the colors in the flowers and add some red to the bottom so the lining has a strip of red satin and the overskirt has some red tulle added.

I did this project in the fall, but got busy with Nutcracker and didn't get around to posting it. This coat had belonged to my customer's mother. She inherited it when her mother passed, but as a coat it wasn't something she would wear. Removing the sleeves transformed it from something dated that wouldn't get used to a vest that is more trendy and would be used.

This is Tater. He's the mascot for Port Farms. He usually wears a big top hat, but he needed a Santa hat for Christmas. His hat is a combination of sewing, glue gun, plastic canvas and wire (to hold the hat up). Tater has buttons on his head to attach his hats so there are elastic loops on the hat to help it stay securely on his head.

Day 6 of Theater Week!

A few years ago, I decorated the Prince costume with some white sequin trim and used glitter glue around the gold swoops to add some sparkle. After last year's show, I took the costume and hand washed it in my bathtub. (Washing costumes in my tub is not an unusual occurrence around here.) I completely forgot about the glitter glue and how it isn't water proof. Let the costume to soak and came back to glitter floating on the waterπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

I decided we needed a more permanent solution. I covered the white sequin trim that was starting to fall apart with a sparkly gold trim and outlined the gold swoops with a thin gold trim that's been sewn on. Now the costume can be hand washed and I won't come back to glitter floating on the water.

Day 5 of Theater Week!

These are the Rosebud costumes. They are pretty, but are starting to show their age. Many of the tulle skirts have gotten tears in them. We stitch them up and while you'd never see the stitching from stage, the Rosebuds were in need of a face lift. The director had the idea of covering the skirts in an embroidered fabric she had found. It was my idea to add the sleeves. So very happy with how they turned out!
