Good Fire in the Applegate Watershed 🔥
True resource protection starts long before fire season begins—it happens one intentional strip at a time.
Tommy Hawkins, a Fuels Technician with the BLM Medford District, carefully applies an underburn to a management unit within the collaborative Upper Applegate Watershed project.
These low-intensity prescribed fires are vital for clearing out accumulated brush and small fuels under the forest canopy.
It takes an incredible amount of interagency teamwork, planning, and on-the-ground expertise to execute these burns safely, ensuring the long-term health and safety of both the timber and the surrounding communities in Oregon.
