It’s Kantha Quilt madness! I managed to get 2 garments out of each quilt, so this is the last….until I find another good quilt. The “Trapeze Jacket”, an old favorite. Size Small.

After saying I would not add any new designs to the repertoire, I made the Kantha Quilt jacket a couple weeks ago, size Large. My friend Mary saw the post and asked me to make one for her with a quilt she had, but I first had to draft the pattern down to a Small for her…then, to make sure the pattern was correct before cutting her quilt, I made one out of a piece of Cashmere from a trip to Paris for her to try on as a mock-up. I think you can guess what happened next….

I just used the last bit of “Eggplant” from the lightweight linen board, and crossed it off, in this game of “Retirement Bingo”. (When the fabric’s gone, I go home) Heavyweight Black is getting low as well. If you see a color you like without an “X”through it, order now while supplies last! I’m frankly surprised there is any “Dewberry” left, but it’s low.

Hello, Regalia Friends and Clients! Now that the holidays are on their way out, I’m doing some reorganizing in my studio…it’s currently torn apart, so if you are one in the queue on the Custom Order board, I apologize for the delay. You aren’t forgotten, I just can’t get to the sewing machine at present. Just know your garments will be nicer when sewn by someone with a restful mind. Happy New Year!

You may have noticed I have not posted many photos lately of things I’ve made…it’s not that I haven’t made anything, I’ve actually been swamped with custom orders. Today I made the “Takara Jacket” for the first time in a couple years, so I had to retrieve the instructions from the back of my brain. Also, it is silk doupionni, which adds an extra hour or more. Many clients are mildly panicked that I’m retiring, so the orders are brisk, but I keep saying “when the last yard of fabric is gone, I’m out of here”…but it’s like bolts of fabric appear overnight. It’s all good. It’s nice to have good clients who have supported me for so long.

BIG $65 MARTINI SHIRT SALE! I’m moving out a lot of Martini Shirts that have been in stock too long. Mostly size Small, which don’t sell as fast, but a couple XL’s as well. I’ve lowered the prices on my website for easy ordering, with FREE SHIPPING. Made to-order shirts are regular price, but the photos you see here are the shirts marked down- screen shots are the ones online, fast phone photos are in stock, not on the website (you’ll have to call or PM to order those, or a mix of the two). I’ll add size and color names in comments for those. Get ‘em and give ‘em while the iron is hot!

Three new silk/rayon brocade jackets just went down to Little Rock! Find them at at 16th and Main. The red and the brown are size Large, black with gold lining is Medium…sorry, I forgot the prices before I sent them.

Say Hello to Pesto! I know, I said I wouldn’t add new colors, but I found this bright green linen on a recent trip to New York’s Garment District, at one of my regular linen vendors’. I only bought 10 yards to try it, and I think I love it! This is the “Hourglass Tunic”, but the weight is good for nearly any of my repertoire garments.

Old dog, new trick.
In my 25 years of making Regalia, bias-bound necklines have been a stock detail on many of my designs…but they’ve always been round, never V-neck. I attribute that mostly to my own laziness, just not taking the time to sit and figure out how to miter a tiny piece of bias binding. Also, it requires some finesse, which was a lot to ask of my seamstresses. Recently, a client just HAD to have a V-neck in a dress, so I dusted off my brain and figured it out. Not only was it easier than it thought, but it comes out nicely every time! (She’s ordered about 9 of these by now).
