Due to circumstances beyond control I am closing my company after 29 years. I am so Grateful to have helped so very many people with their shoe fitting needs. I'm often asked why shoe repair "takes so long". The store policy is shoe repair is available for footwear which is purchased at American Foot Comfort for a nominal fee. There are very few shoe repair shops left in Humboldt County. The reason being there is no margin (money) for shoe repair.
The number one (most important) work is orthopedic. That is what I'm trained for and has the greatest priority.
Then comes shoe fitting which is critical to our happy customers which is a combination of art and science.
Of course, anytime people walk through the door or calls on the phone we must divert our attention to that.
Then comes all the hats I wear; ordering and stocking supplies, bookkeeping, reports, billing and accounts payable. And don't forget janitorial duties.
I know after 28 years, I can make my job look easy; believe me my job is not easy but I love it, it's my baby, I created my job after leaving Humboldt county for over a year to study and train how to make and modify footwear. Pedorthics is my clinical trade and I look forward to providing this service for years to come. Thanks to the wonderful folks in this thriving community.

So here's the deal. Most people whose feet hurt think they need to go to the foot doctor. Maybe the doctor says they need a custom molded shoe insert. Expensive and the wait time could be a month. Of course if you have insurance not so bad. The fact is custom molded shoe inserts are the most over prescribed modality out there. I make them (The Best) and I talk people out of them everyday. The fact is, for the vast majority of people, they would do fine in a over the counter generic shoe insert. There is a high quality specific shoe insert made for most of the common foot pain conditions, at a fraction of the cost and you get it in your shoe much quicker. The trick is you, the don't which one you need and you don't know where to find it. You need a guide!!! I am your guide.
