Nancy Kennedy Designs

Nancy Kennedy Designs Originally designed handwoven rugs add a sophisticated accent to any room in a home or office. Weaving has been my passion and vocation since 1990.

When I first learned to weave, I wondered why I hadn't discovered it long before. In middle age, I finally knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. I guess that makes me a "late bloomer." Now I'm in no hurry to "grow up," as it might spoil the creativity. Rugs have been my primary focus from the beginning. Over the years, my style has evolved to the current contemporary designs you see here. I hav

e been showing them at fine craft shows around the country since 1999. To make a very brief artist's statement: I weave "art underfoot." In addition to weaving professionally, I have taught weaving classes at The Ink People Center for the Arts weaving studio in Eureka, California, and also workshops at the Mendocino Art Center in Mendocino, California. In the fall of 1999 I spent a month-long artist in residency at the Mendocino Art Center. In August of 2007 I returned to Eureka, California, after living in Minnesota for four years.

🌟 Get ready to fall in love with the stunning handwoven area rugs by Nancy Kennedy at the Kings Mountain Art Fair! 🌟

Nancy's unique creations feature a reversible Summer and Winter weave structure, making them not only beautiful but also incredibly practical. The rugs are designed to be used on both sides, with the colors in reverse juxtaposition on the front and back.

Imagine the warmth and coziness of a Summer weave on one side, and the crisp, cool tones of a Winter weave on the other. It's the perfect combination for any room in your home!

Nancy's attention to detail and mastery of her craft are evident in every stitch, making each rug a true work of art. Don't miss your chance to see these stunning pieces in person at the Kings Mountain Art Fair. Mark your calendars and get ready to take your home decor to the next level!

A week from today I will head for Redmond, Oregon (near Bend) for the 2023 Art in the High Desert show, which runs from August 25 - 27. Here is one my my newest rugs, which will be in the show. It is a long runner named β€œLong Hall.” Measurements are 33 inches wide by 139 inches long. I look forward to the show and seeing artist friends and meeting new artist friends from around the country. If you happen to be in the area, please visit me in Booth 225.

This is a long runner I finished weaving in early December. I have not yet thought of a title for it. The inspiration is from a much wider wall hanging by Bauhaus weaver Ruth Hollos. My colors are brighter than hers. It measures 33 inches wide x 139 inches (11 feet, 7 inches) long.

It has been way too long since I have posted here. I have not yet photographed my latest finished rug. Instead, here is a peek at what is currently on my rug loom. It is a long runner, probably will end up being about 12 feet long. As you can see, it is going to be colorful! It is loosely based on the design of Bauhaus weaver, Ruth Hollos. Her colors were more subdued.

I am honored to have this, one of my favorite rugs, in the Focus on Fiber show. Also thrilled to get Second Place among many beautiful entries. The show is at the Redwood Art Association Gallery in Eureka, CA until July 17.
