Piecing a new Foundation Paper Pieced quilt this week. Any guesses of what I might be creating? This is one unfinished part of 5 different sections. This section seems to contain most of the tiny bits though.

*note, I have no idea what this material is made of other than silk spun from diamonds because let me tell youuu.. it was nearly impossible to cut!! I went through 4 different pairs of scissor, 3 rotary blades and even a new mat before realizing that not every cutting instrument I owned was dull, but instead it was the fabric.

I’ve been experimenting with different types of tshirt quilts. Trying to find something g that’s a little more budget friendly, but still looks good and preserves the memories that we hold so dear.
So I introduce to you…. The t-shirt BLANKET.
What’s the difference?
Blankets would have the shirts cut all roughly the same sizes. The shirts would not get stabilized with interfacing keeping the overall feel of the blanket more flowy- less stiff.
Blankets do not have batting in the middle and are not quilted with the decorative top stitching that makes a quilt, a quilt. They are backed with a fleece or something similar (Minky, sweatshirt knit, etc)
Coming in at roughly 1/2 the cost of what a “real” tshirt quilt would be due to way less materials and way less time.
Looking at around $8/shirt, plus the backing.

These were some shirts I found in the bottom of my closet 😅😅 didn’t want anything “good” for the test run, so I know it isn’t matchy matchy
