I finished this cross stitch piece today - “Greenhouse of Oddities” by . I ice dyed the aida cloth & added some beaded details for interest and shine; the sparkly crows are stitched with Etoile floss. It’s been taken to a framer already!

I’ve been terrible about posting lately, so here are some of what has come out if the sewing room the past 2 months!
1. A bright plaid shacket - the pattern is the Fallon coat by . This one is for a client, but I made one for myself in forest green corduroy.
2. A lavender cheongsam style dress. I used a 90s era pattern (McCalls 7960); the covered buttons are decorative. It is lined with lilac satin & has an invisible zipper down the back.
3. My husband asked for a hanten for Christmas using some of the fabric he brought back from Japan several years ago. It’s a quilted housecoat worn inside during the winter months. I used a free jinbei pattern I found online & quilted it myself. He knew he was getting it, but didn’t see it until Christmas morning.
4. A floaty mixed print dress for myself. The sleeves, collar, and hem ruffle are silk; the brown print is rayon challis. The materials were in my stash & I used Vogue 1652.

I got an impromptu sewing machine lesson with Chuck of today at . I asked if he could demonstrate his TechSew leather machine because I’d never seen one in person. He showed me the huge needles, how the bobbins are wound, and I was mesmerized by the built in walking foot. After we left his booth, he caught up with us & asked if I wanted to try using it - I’m glad I wore that big yellow shirt! Thanks Chuck - you & your wife are delightful!

My velveteen trousers are done! I used the Quinn pants pattern from . The fabric & buttons were from my stash. The color is true in the first picture; the 2nd & 3rd are far more saturated due to the green mat, but I wanted to show the fastenings.
