Today marks a proud milestone for TI-STAF
(Taj Industries Sewing Training And Fashion)

We celebrate our first apprentice graduate,
Carmen L. Lopez Perez, who successfully completed the Industrial Sewing Machine Operator Apprentice Program received her official certification.

TI-STAF Department of Labor approved Industrial Sewing Machine Operator Apprentice program is designed to build skilled talent in industrial sewing and apparel manufacturing while creating new career pathways for individuals interested in the fashion and sewn-product industry.

Carmen’s dedication, hard work, and commitment to learning demonstrate the power of hands-on training and apprenticeship.
Her achievement represents the beginning of many success stories as TI-STAF works to rebuild skilled sewing and garment production talent in our community.
Congratulations Carmen on this important accomplishment!

TI-STAF is collaborating with the Detroit fashion community to offer a Beginner Sewing Class designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of how to operate a sewing machine, garment construction and sewing techniques.

This program aims to create an accessible entry point for individuals interested in fashion, textile arts, and creative production.

In this 6 weeks course participants will learn essential skills such as understanding sewing machines, basic stitching techniques, fabric handling, and make a project.

The class will also provide insight into the broader fashion ecosystem in Detroit and highlight opportunities for further training and creative development.
In this class beginners can develop practical skills, connect with local designers and makers, and gain confidence to continue exploring careers or creative pathways in fashion and textile production.
