Monkeybox Vintage Junk

Monkeybox Vintage Junk I sell vintage goodness of all sorts, ephemera and vintage holiday items. I make vintage inspired holiday crafts using vintage items. What is a monkeybox?

Find me at The Junk Ranch, on Instagram or here on Facebook. When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it,

pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Anyone else making 1970’s beaded keychains tonight? *crickets*. No? Just me? I found a big bag full of these vintage kits a long time ago. I’m having trouble getting back into my crafts, so I decided to give these a go. They’re pretty fun and quick to make and I may have even made my 30 year old son make one. 🤪 (I just like this song…😆)

I worked the front gate all weekend at The Junk Ranch and had fun seeing all the people coming in and off the field. I only popped into one booth, but surprise, surprise- I found a treasure or three. Teeny baskets for my ever growing handmade teeny basket collection. And the best part is, I found a $20 last weekend, so they were free to me! Eeek.

I haven’t added to my collection of vintage souvenir ashtrays in a very long time. But, today I found one! This is a fun collection that stacks up and stores away in one drawer of my apothecary cabinet. Neat and tidy! These show up in magazines from time to time as something you should collect. I already do!

Today’s fun 50¢ find. A uranium glass salt/ pepper shaker. Maybe I can find a lid for it eventually. But isn’t it pretty all glowy?

Here’s another collection that I never intended to start. But you find one, then a second and there you go. My collection of vintage hand-painted Pinocchio’s from Italy.

It’s Junk Ranch time! This Friday and Saturday October 2nd & 3rd. All of the Vendors, and especially the wonderful Junk Ranch owners, have been working SO hard to curate vintage and bring their very best to you! In these, well, WEIRD times life has been so uncertain and, well.....weird, so it is absolutely FANTASTIC to have an event!

I’ve been hunting vintage for nearly a year for this show. I’ll have a mix of vintage goods, vintage holiday (SO MUCH CHRISTMAS) and handmade vintage holiday creations. I’ll be right beside the old farmhouse at the front gate under my pink tent. I’ll accept cash, PayPal and credit cards.

There will be an article in the Democrat-Gazette on Sunday September 27th (written by fellow vendor Pretty Quirky) all about The Junk Ranch and some of the vendors. Hint hint. I’ll be in there! Also, follow me on Instagram for more sneak peeks. 😊

If you’re coming, please note that face masks are required to enter the venue and to enter anyplace of business in Arkansas. While seated or in open areas, face masks may be removed unless distancing is not possible. This is a State Mandate and the only way we are being allowed to have the event. So, treat others as you would like to be treated. ❤️
