Our sheep live out their lives fully with the grace of old age. We believe that honesty in marketing is sorely lacking especially in the fashion industry. To that end, we suggest shoppers educate themselves. If you want eco wool, cruelty-free wool, then conduct due diligence as there are a plethora of companies and it's not too hard to find all their wool is nothing more than an offshoot of their
meat business while for others meat is barely on the radar and they focus solely on raising the finest wool-producing animals possible. You can choose what works for you and purchase from brands and farms that follow your ethics. For some-they would prefer a meat/fiber combo while others would not. But we want people to know that fiber producers are as different and varied as the animals we care for. So for those that want wool; the warmth, the sustainability, but argue that a vegan lifestyle precludes that...think again. There are lots of small scale wool producers all over America that have small flocks that are never going to end up on a plate. You can wear alpaca, wool, and other fibers without the guilt! You can support small farmers that produce earth friendly slow fashion products knowing that their animals are retired. Just ask, as there is a growing network of fiber producers who will gladly show you not only the animal the fiber came from but when you make the choice in purchasing from them it helps ensures an animal's retirement. Our mill also processes fiber from local producers into roving, pencil roving, batts, and yarn. Our colorways are done by myself and are only available from yarn produced by our flock. We make no judgment on those that produce meat and wool- we only want to be fully transparent. Wool products labeled 'Safe Harbor Woolworks' will only be from our animals while those labeled Edwards Woolworks will be from fiber farms sourced in the bluegrass state so that we can support small local farms. We are committed to producing the finest wool, roving, batts, and yarn for our mill processing clients and those that have supported us since the beginning when the mill was only a dream on a sketchpad.
