Today, I am feeling much more like Peter than Jesus. I worked for hours setting up a new product only to have every print fail. This is the 3rd day in a row when printing and my lack of adequate resources has made me want to quit everything. And to be honest… I’m still sitting in a place where that seems like a great idea. Cause how can I have so many bad days if this is where God has led me?!? I must be in the wrong place, no?!?

So rather than drown in despair, I’m sitting in the sounds of crickets and birds. If I have nothing to show for all my work at the end of the day, all I can do is lay it at His feet. He’s just gonna have to fix it for me cause I have nothing left to give today. And if I have no product to show for all the work, then He will just have to pull a little Loaves + Fishes Part II for me.

Sometimes… walking on water as an actual human with emotions and pain feels more like Peter and less like Jesus.

Every once in a while the Lord reveals new levels to a design He had already given me. Today I was reading in Nehemiah and when learning about the position of a cupbearer I came across an article on Jesus as the ultimate cupbearer. The HE WOULD SERVE {W**E} tee may be a fun design but the layers of meaning extend far beyond just w**e. My initial concept involved the communion we have with Christ because of His sacrifice, and represented by the Last Supper as Jesus offered them each the cup to drink in remembrance of Him. But through reading Nehemiah, and seeing Jesus in the role of the ultimate cupbearer, I am reminded that He took the poison & death in our place, while inviting us into communion with Him. I love the connections in scripture that communicate the same good news in different ways. He loves us. And He gave Himself for us. Sit with that today as you build (or rebuild) the places God has for you.

In 2019 I was already in full-on burnout before COVID ever hit. I knew the direction I was heading wasn’t what the Lord had for me, but I had no clue where to even begin the initiate a shift. All I could do was the next thing the Lord would inspire me to do… launch a clothing brand that prophesies life. This design is a nod to that first moment when I stepped out of the boat for the first time and put the word God gave me, WATERWALKER, on a shirt. A beautiful glowing light in the midst of a dark season.

Even from a place of burnout.
