Hello my name is Yesenia!
Owner of Bows by Me.
Here is a little summary of how I started my journey!
Starting my own business has been an incredible journey filled with excitement and challenges. It all began with making hair bows. I had my first daughter in 2009 which led me to buy some hair bows from some lady that went to sell where I worked. I took a good look at them and said āI can do this!ā That day I started looking at YouTube just to start learning techniques and little by little I started buying what I needed to start making basic hair bows and let me tell you, I look at them now and I say āwhat was I thinking?ā but it was how I started and everyone starts somewhere! 2 years went by and during those 2 years I worked on getting experience and in 2011 I made this page. I would post pictures of my bows and at that time I was also doing face painting for parties, I would decorate for parties, making centerpieces and I just got into crafting anything I could. Even if I had never done it, if people would ask me if I could make something I was always down to learn to make it. So the years past and I would just make things for people as they ordered.
Fast forward to 2020, I started the business I am in now. I started selling hair bows that I would buy already made and resell them. I remember starting in my bedroom doing Facebook lives and on March 16, 2020 is the day when I made my first sale! I remember having 3-5 viewers and those viewers I will always remember because till this day they are still my customers. I would also do different games and raffles for my viewers because I also sold Tupperware at this time so I had different prizes to put in the games. After a couple months of doing this I then started buying makeup, I would buy just a little bit of items but I did have to move my business to my kitchen because I no longer fit in my bedroom so that told me I was on the right path.
After doing some Facebook lives I came across Pretty and Pink, Joeleen gave me the scoop on where to get everything wholesale and I will forever be grateful for her. Thatās when it all happened, I started buying other things like hair accessories, pens, keychains, plushies, jewelry, toys, cups, etc. just anything that was in style at the time, but I would still make hair bows and I didnāt have time for the games or raffles anymore. I bought my cricut machine and also started making shirts. I was just into making and selling everything I could think of. I also started and still do the farmers market and pop ups here and there. I make flower bouquets, real and eternal roses. I also decorate graduation caps and make leis for graduation and many more things.
As the business grew, I moved to my garage and now it is full with stuff. I faced various challenges and there is so much work that goes into this type of business. Some of those things include managing inventory, maintaining quality control, keeping up with the increasing demand, stocking, packing, bagging, organizing, 4 kids to take care of, being a house wife and much more. I used to do 8 hour lives, my feet and back would be in pain, the tears, frustration and so many emotions that I donāt show on a Facebook live. Thereās so much people donāt see and doing all this by myself is overwhelming. My mom helps me but she is very limited on what she can do and let me tell you I wanted to give up so many times.
However, I embraced these challenges as opportunities for growth and continually adapted my strategies to overcome them. Providing exceptional customer service was a top priority. I made sure to listen to my customerās needs, pay attention to details, and deliver customer service that exceeded their expectations. Happy customers became loyal customers, and their positive reviews helped attract new business.
I have inspired many people to do what I do some from far and some that are local. Some stayed in the business, some changed businesses and some didnāt continue which is ok because it is not for everyone. I have tried to help as much as I could when they started like helping with their first live or simply just when they have questions. So I am happy where I am today. Business goes up and down but itās what I love to do. So today March 16th is my 6th year anniversary from when I made my first sale and I look forward to it. I hope to see you all there!!!
I am forever thankful for each and everyone of you because even if you donāt purchase with just a share you are helping. Love you guys so much š
