SPEED SYNDICATE LEGENDS // CHARLIE LAWSON

Some names in our local motorsports world carry real weight — the kind that doesn’t fade, the kind that gets mentioned with respect every single time.
Charlie Lawson is one of those names.

When we first announced the Speed Syndicate Legends series, his name surfaced almost instantly. Anyone who’s been around the truck‑pulling scene knows why. Charlie was a force — a true staple in local pulling, a man whose family fielded more trucks over the years than most people can count, and a Ford guru whose fingerprints are still all over this community. If it pulled, raced, or needed to run harder, chances are Charlie had a hand in it somewhere along the line.

You don’t have to know every detail of a man’s story to recognize the size of his impact. You can see it in the way people talk about him. You can see it in the trucks he helped build. You can see it in the generations he influenced — sons, grandsons, and countless others who learned from him, leaned on him, and loved him.

Charlie Lawson was — and still is — a legend around here.
And today, we honor him as the next inductee in the Speed Syndicate Legends series.

If you knew Charlie, pulled with him, wrenched with him, or have a story that shows who he was, drop it in the comments. Let’s make this thread a place that reflects the legacy he left behind.

Today is not a celebration. Today is remembrance.

Some never made it home.
Some families carry a folded flag instead of a hand to hold.
Some names live on only because we speak them.

Memorial Day is for them.
The fallen.
The brave.
The ones who gave everything.

🇺🇸 If you’re remembering someone today, drop their name below so we can honor them together.

Gone, but never forgotten. 🕊️

🏁🔥 SPEED SYNDICATE LEGENDS - "BIG DADDY" FRANKIE ROTH 🔥🏁

Some people earn respect with trophies. Others earn it with the way they treat people. Frankie “Big Daddy” Roth was the second kind — the kind of man whose name still gets said with a grin, a story, or a “you should’ve been there” from anyone who ever crossed his path.

Frankie built Roth Trucking from the ground up, the same way he built everything else in his life: with his hands, his grit, and that uncanny ability to make something out of nothing. What started as his business became something bigger — a gathering place. The shop turned into the unofficial Saturday morning headquarters for racers, truckers, and the usual crew of grumpy old men who solved the world’s problems over coffee and busted knuckles.

And tucked off to the side was the Demossville Speed Shop, a little slice of chaos where race cars got patched together, tuned up, and occasionally reinvented. The trucking company may have ended with Frankie, but DSS is still alive today because the spirit he built into it never left.

Frankie wasn’t loud about what he did for people, but everybody knew. He was generous. He was kind. He helped because that’s who he was. He made his own way, and he pulled a lot of folks along with him — sometimes with advice, sometimes with tools, sometimes with a story that hit harder than he meant it to.

This shirt honors the man people still talk about, still miss, and still call Big Daddy. A grassroots legend who didn’t chase attention — he just lived in a way that earned it.

🏁🔥 SPEED SYNDICATE LEGENDS — CHUCK BLACK 🔥🏁

When we kicked off the Speed Syndicate Legends series, we knew it wasn’t just about fast cars — it was about the people who built the culture. The ones who shaped racers, shaped cars, and shaped entire communities without ever asking for credit.

And if you’ve been around the local scene for more than five minutes, you already know this next name.

Chuck Black

Owner of Chuck Black Race Cars (CBRC).
Backyard‑garage mastermind.
Chassis whisperer.
Fabrication problem‑solver.
The guy who can look at a twisted mess of tubing and say, “Yeah, I can fix that.”

Truth is, Chuck has had his hands in more cars around here than anyone can count. If he didn’t build it, improve it, or repair it himself… then he probably taught the person who did. His fingerprints are all over this region’s racing history — not because he chased fame, but because he showed up, did the work, and helped anyone who needed it.

Chuck’s reputation is simple: fair, honest, and does things his own way. No shortcuts. No ego. Just pure, professional‑grade craftsmanship coming straight out of a backyard shop that’s turned out some of the wildest, most badass machines this area has ever seen.

He’s a grassroots guy through and through — the kind of legend who proves you don’t need a giant facility or a corporate logo to build greatness. You just need skill, grit, and a willingness to help the next racer in line.

Today, we honor him with the next release in our series:

Drop a comment if Chuck has ever helped you, saved your weekend, or built something you still brag about.
And if you’ve got photos of a CBRC creation — post ’em. Let’s give the man his flowers.

🏁🔥 INTRODUCING THE FIRST‑EVER SPEED SYNDICATE LEGEND 🔥🏁

A few weeks back, we asked our followers to nominate the people who shaped their racing story — not the big-name pros, but the grassroots legends who built this culture from the ground up. The mentors. The teachers. The guys who kept the pits alive long after the lights went out.

One name kept coming up again and again: Dennis Friedman.

If you’ve spent any time around the local tracks, you already know why. Dennis has been a fixture in this world longer than most of us have been alive. He’s the guy who helped half the racers in this region get their start. The guy with a story for every photo, a lesson for every rookie, and a reputation built on decades of grit, speed, and generosity.

At 84 years young, his racing days might be behind him, but his impact sure isn’t. The stories people shared about him made one thing clear — Dennis isn’t just part of the scene. He is the scene.

So today, we’re proud to announce the very first design in our new series:

SPEED SYNDICATE LEGENDS — Dennis Friedman Edition

This shirt is more than merch. It’s a tribute to a man who helped shape generations of racers and kept the spirit of grassroots motorsports alive.

Drop a comment if Dennis has ever helped you, taught you, or inspired you.
And if you’ve got an old photo with him — post it. He’d love that.
