Blue Heron Pottery

Blue Heron Pottery Unique hand-made, lace-impressed slab pottery available online at http://www.etsy.com/people/blueheronpottery Everything starts as a flat slab of clay.

Showing the “clothiness” of clay is how I like to describe my unique line of stoneware pottery. From there I cut out a basic pattern (simple rectangle for mugs, cups, and teapots, more complicated shapes for pitchers, butter dishes, etc) and impress each piece with lace texture. I have some laces that were my grandmother’s that I have used for over 40 years and many have been given to me by friend

s who just wanted their old lace to be used for something. Some are textures from material designed for bridal gowns or formal dresses that I find in our local fabric shop. I do commissioned work* with family laces for I love the preserving of designs—some of which were made by that special grandma—that can be spread around a family.
