๐ผThe Real Real๐ผ
This was a vintage market in July of 2021. The month prior, I had a pretty major surgery to fix a postpartum herniated belly button caused by my second son. (Yeah, I waited 9 years to do it. Good on me)
This market day started hard. It was painful even hitching my trailer up. Just a few weeks before this, I was bedridden with drainage tubes coming out of my stomach. Yikes! I had petitioned my younger sister to assist me, but she called as I was setting up to say her friends wanted her to hang out and she couldn't make it. To top it off, it was so hot that by 10am I had to change shirts from the sweating. I ended up changing shirts 3 times this day. I was tired, seriously in pain, and probably horribly dehydrated. I finished the market and completely passed out as soon as my body hit the couch at home. Later, I got an infection in my still healing wounds from surgery. Probably from sweat. COOL.
That's just a glimpse into ONE DAY of the blood, sweat, and tears I've poured into my small business. I might be crazy, but it makes me so happy.
I hope this will help other small biz owners be more open about their struggles. Things that are infuriating at the time that now we can look back at and be so proud of ourselves for, or laugh at ourselves... and then keep goin'.
