Where The Kids Things' Are was opened in 1997 by owner/operator/mother-of-two Amy Carwile, with an immeasurable amount of help from her loving and supportive husband, David. Both Virginian natives have remained influential members of the community and have supported local small-business economy for the past 18 years----making this shop one of the last original mom-and-pop stores still standing in
Lynchburg today. Our stores mission is to offer affordable children’s clothing, toys and furniture to families on a budget. We also offer a helping hand when children are ready to move to the next size by buying your gently used kid’s items and paying cash----even offering an additional percentage in exchange for store credit. We love getting to know our customers and seeing their families grow the way ours did.

We currently purchase children's clothing, shoes, furniture, toys, books, movies and equipment Mon-Sat until 2pm.
*We ask that all items be either new or gently used, cleaned/freshly laundered before selling and items brought in be contained in a box, tote, tub (no bags please!)
Walk-ins are welcome, however; we do recommend calling before bringing items to sell as we work in the order in which they are dropped off and often waiting times may be extensive. We also purchase clothes on a seasonal basis (spring/summer during spring/summer, fall/winter during fall/winter). If you're unsure what season clothes we're currently buying, please feel free to call and ask. We carry children's sizes 0-3 months through size kids 16. This includes preemie items. We do not accept maternity clothing. All strollers, car seats, beds, etc will be checked for recall before purchasing. If items are not picked up by the end of day dropped off (unless otherwise agreed upon with management) items will be donated. Cash will be paid for all items accepted, unless store credit is preferred by seller--in which case, an additional percentage will be added.
*Please note that we do not typically accept everything brought in--we accept limited stuffed animals and other things may be turned down solely based upon inventory at that time.
