Lable By MAS

Lable By MAS The new standard of adaptive clothing! Today, for over a billion people, the act of wearing everyday clothing is a challenge. This is how LABLE> was born.

Welcome to accessible, purposeful design that globally enables clothing labels to cater to Persons with disabilities and temporary setbacks. They’ve lived their lives with labels that confine, repress and shame and clothing labels that still believe in a one form fits all. We, however, sort out to do better, to be greater. Because we believe that our words and abilities don’t define us, but our ac

tions do. And what do we do? Our MAS ecosystem allows us to create adaptive clothing that’s inclusive and accessible. From concept to store, our design, IP, consumer testing & validation, manufacture services and beyond, enables clothing labels across the world to cater to anyone with a permanent disability or temporary setback, so that they could snap, pull and zip into a new world of possibilities all on their own terms.

Empathy is the first step to bridging the gap for more accessibility, be it in conversation or social interactions. At Lable, we encourage connectivity. Here’s a general guide on empowering persons with disabilities during interactions.

01 - Do not define a person by their disability, approach and interact like you would any other person.

02 - Persons with disabilities are generally open to questions and understand that awareness is required. Do not be afraid to ask questions in a sensitive way. Get to know the person. And if they are not comfortable, that’s alright too.

03 - Look at them directly and use non-verbal methods to let them know you are listening. Be patient.

04 - Offer assistance if they ask for it, do not try to interfere with every task.

Misunderstandings are part of life, but here’s a few ways we can minimise them during interactions with persons with disabilities.

Let’s go over the basics
01 - We’re all human, so look directly like you would anyone else when speaking, even if some are accompanied by a caretaker or interpreter. Equality is the first step to clear communication.
02 - Address the person first, not the disability. Use terms such as “Person or People with Disabilities”
03 - Avoid using negative terms regarding their disabilities and phrase them as “people who use a wheelchair” instead of “wheelchair bound”.
04 - Disability aids such as wheelchairs, canes, and hearing aids are all part of a person’s personal space. Do not attempt to touch them unless asked.

[ID Post is titled 'How to communicate sensitively' and lists out the following points 01 Equality, 02 People first always, 03 Positivity is key, 04 Mindful of personal space.]

Reaching out to start a conversation and connecting with other humans is the best form of freedom and a leading quality. People-first language, phrases communication respectfully by emphasising on the person not the disability. This creates an equal platform for all parties to build relationships and nurture each other. At Lable we believe we’re all on a journey of betterment, learning to be better and unlearning old, outdated behaviour. This is the first step towards true change.

Here are a few points to keep in mind;
01 - Always mention the person first.
02 - When addressing them directly, maintain eye contact with the person.
03 - If you are unsure, directly ask the person how they prefer to be described.
04 - Emphasise abilities, not limitations.
05 - Stay away from offensive language.

Celebrating Progress in Disability Rights!

Countries are making strides to ensure equality and accessibility for individuals with disabilities. These landmark policies and acts represent significant steps toward inclusivity and empowerment.

At Lable, we believe that while strides have been made, there’s a lot more work to be done. Whether it's societal change and a push for more accessibility in physical spaces or clothing, our mission aligns with these global advancements, as we strive to create an even more inclusive world.

Let's continue to advocate for the rights of all and build a world where everyone can thrive!

Lable always stands firm on the importance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. In the past, we’ve hosted a panel discussion and an exhibition. And this year is no different, we’ve dedicated this entire month to exploring the theme set forth by the UN for the year 2024.

And this all goes back to 1992, when this annual observance was first proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3, aiming to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

Join us as we honour and uplift those who have paved the way for others!

Lable celebrates and amplifies leadership this December!
